Review of New DVD Releases!
Ramesh C. Reddy Suspect Zero (2004): Main Cast: Rating R: Plot Review: "Suspect Zero" is an enigmatic thriller of cat and mouse proportions. It is about an FBI agent and his partner searching for a killer. In the process they stumble across murders of multiple persons. As the agent gets obsessed with the case, he receives unexpected help from Project Iccarus that lets a person telepathically get into the mind of the killer. What will happen to the FBI agent? Will he kill or be killed? What will his partners’ role be? What will Project Iccarus do to those involved? Watch the movie to find answers to these questions. Content Review: Suspect Zero uses the ‘F’ word 11 times in the movie. There is brief nudity that viewers need to be aware of and anticipate so they won’t see those scenes. When I sense nude scenes I just turn away until plot continues. Spiritual Implications: In Project Iccarus, the person involved can see into the mind of killers before they strike. If he gets there in time, he can stop what is about to happen. He does not always get there in time. He can also feel the pain of the victims and weeps. As I watched this movie, I thought about God and His ability to see into the mind of all his creations. He can see into my mind and your mind. The negative things that we anticipate doing is already seen by God before we even commit it. It pains God when He sees us do evil. He can stop us if He wants to but because of free will He has given us, He lets us make the choice many times. The question is will God see what we are doing as good and be pleased or will we let Him see what we are doing as evil! In the movie, the FBI agent becomes the one who is willing to step up front to eradicate evil. In the process, he has to deal with his own weaknesses and not give into the persecutions he faces. "For God is closely watching you and carefully weighs everything you do." (Proverbs 5:21, TLB) Questions to ponder: If you know something bad is going to happen to someone, will you be willing to step up front to stop it? Why or Why not? If you could kill a person whose killing will save multiple lives in the future, would you take the law into your own hands for the benefit of society? What burden must someone face when they are experiencing the sufferings of victims? What kind of burden did Christ face? What happened to Christ? What can we learn from Christ’s example?
