“Jesus
Emphasizes Serving Under Scripture! (J.E.S.U.S)”

Editors Note: The devotional has a background song by
called 'This Blood' which can be heard if you use Internet
Explorer.
SCRIPTURE:
“Your attitude should be the same as that of
Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality
with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the
very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.” (Philippians
2:5-7, NIV)
EXPOSITION:
OBSERVATIONS:
I asked myself what is there to know about Jesus
in these verses?
I looked for answers in the verses and came up with these:
1. Jesus being in very nature God.
2. Jesus did not consider equality with God something to be grasped.
3. Jesus made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant.
4. Jesus being made in human likeness.
INTERPRETATIONS:
I asked myself what it means when it
states, “Jesus being in very nature God?”
What came to my mind is that this verse confirmed to me that Jesus is
God. Since He is God, He has existed from the beginning and all things
were made by Him and through Him. In Him was the Light of life and the
darkness could never extinguish it.
Since He is God, I know He is the Author of our lives. That is awesome
to know that Jesus is the Author of my Life and yours too!
As an Author, He knows exactly what He has put in me and how I am made
of. He knows the beginning of my life and the ending of my life. He also
knows everything about me during the time span between those two. Since
He has the copyright to me, no one can claim me as their own except the
Lord Himself! I belong to the Lord! (Verses in Psalm 139 explain this
much better)
If anyone tries to take credit for His creation of me, they are
committing plagiarism. Sadly, in this world many continue to do that by
not acknowledging the Author’s work in a human beings life but instead
attributing that life to evolution. How sad! I did not come from no ape
but was created in my mother's womb by the Author of Life! You too!
I asked myself what it means that, “Jesus did not
consider equality with God something to be grasped”?
What came to my mind is that Jesus did not let his high position
influence things for his own benefit even though He is God. He did not
grasp on to his position of power and dictate how things ought to be. On
the contrary, He does something that is so mind boggling. He made
Himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant. That is so amazing
that Jesus would do that.
I asked myself what it means that “Jesus made
Himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant?
It reminded me of how Paul started his letter in Philippians 1:
"Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus,…”
Jesus made Himself nothing claiming no rights but instead came to serve
humanity. He came to seek and save the lost. That is so wonderful to
know that the God of the Universe took time to be with the people He
created and decided to serve them. There are no words to describe it!
Especially knowing that He was made in human likeness is that much more
exciting.
I asked myself what does it mean to be made in
human likeness?
What came to my mind is Jesus came in human likeness to be able
to relate to us what we go through. He served as a human being on earth
though He is God. He experienced sorrow, joy, laughter, pain, and even
death as He related to us. But everything Jesus did He did it for you
and me friend. He was tempted by somebody He used to have good
fellowship with in the heavenlies! That somebody was an Angel called
Lucifer who fell from heaven and roams the earth in different capacities
waiting to have evil fellowship now with people in his demonic way. One
day he approached Jesus and tempted Jesus 3 times with physical,
psychological, and power based temptations. Jesus did not give in but
claimed Scripture and threw it at Satan and defeated temptation. So
Jesus understands what we go through when we are tempted. He wants to
help us!
He was betrayed by a close friend, He used to have fellowship with on
the earth. That somebody was Judas Iscariot who betrayed him for money.
One day he approached Jesus with a band of soldiers and betrayed him
with a kiss, a kiss. Jesus was in pain! So Jesus understands when we are
betrayed and feels our pain. He wants to help us!
These are only 2 examples and there are many more how Jesus being made
in human likeness understands what we go through and wants to help us.
The difference is that He did not sin!
APPLICATION:
I saw important implications from this passage for my own life.
Wow! Jesus did a lot and overcame a lot and we are asked to follow in
His footsteps when it states “Your attitude should
be the same as that of Jesus Christ….”
I ASK YOU
NOW:
I ask you now dear friend, how do you match
Jesus’ attitude?
Dear friend it is important to remember that our attitude cannot be the
same as that of Jesus Christ until we have gone to the CALVARY HOSPITAL
OF SALVATION to receive healing from a deadly virus.
The deadly VIRUS has infected the mind, body,
and soul spreading rapidly. You and I cannot do anything to heal
ourselves of this virus except come to the HOSPITAL where the GREAT
PHYSICIAN waits so He alone can heal us.
The sick are gathered from all corners of the earth and come to this
hospital. This hospital is called CALVARY HOSPITAL OF SALVATION and the
EMERGENCY WARD is called GOLGOTHA.
The GREAT PHYSICIAN is not like other doctors who can only treat
patients with physical ailments but this GREAT PHYSICIAN is much more
and knows He has to stay 72 HOURS for every dying person there to be
healed.
He knows what He has to do! This GREAT PHYSICIAN knew that only His
BLOOD can wipe away this epidemic VIRUS, so for you and me He went to
the blood transfusion room where people were about to die from this
deadly virus. There He lay down on the bed made of WOOD.
The surgeons walk into the room. They turn this GREAT PHYSICIAN on His
back. Instead of using an IV, a WHIP with sharp glass, etc is used to
draw out the BLOOD from the GREAT PHYSICIAN'S back! It does not stop
there but to elevate the head on the bed of wood, a CROWN OF THORNS is
used which draws more BLOOD.
As the head is elevated, the GREAT PHYSICIAN's hands are stretched wide
on the wooden bed. Then the feet are bound together. This is done for
the BLOOD transfusion to begin. Instead of using an IV, NAILS and a
HAMMER are used. The NAILS are pounded through the hands into the wooden
bed with a HAMMER so the BLOOD flows and that BLOOD is saved. The NAILS
are pounded through the feet into the wooden bed with a HAMMER so more
BLOOD flows and that BLOOD is saved. As the BLOOD continues to flow from
the GREAT PHYSICIAN's body, the GREAT PHYSICIAN flat lines. Then the
surgeons insert a SPEAR into the heart to make sure all the BLOOD is
out. All the BLOOD is out!
A COVERING is put over the body of the GREAT
PHYSICIAN and His body is moved into the JOSEPH OF ARIMATHEA MORGUE.
Now this BLOOD that was poured out into 'BLOOD
DONOR' bags to be collected for anyone who wanted a transfusion to be
healed of this deadly VIRUS known as SIN. In essence, it is the BLOOD
that was shed at Golgotha on the CROSS of wood that has the power to
SAVE.
The BLOOD is available for NOTHING BUT THE
BLOOD could become the antidote for humanity's deteriorating condition
caused by the DEADLY VIRUS.
Now the CALVARY HOSPITAL OF SALVATION has a
BLOOD DONOR whose BLOOD can be used to save everyone there from this
EPIDEMIC VIRUS.
Those dying need to be taken there to receive the BLOOD transfusion that
is available. However, the BLOOD will not be forced upon those dying!
THE PUREST RED ANTIDOTE is only given to those that are willing to
receive the BLOOD TRANSFUSION so they could LIVE.
All that accept the BLOOD transfusion are being CLEANSED of this
EPIDEMIC VIRUS in their system that is infecting the mind, body, and
soul. This BLOOD goes into the dying person's mind, body, and soul and
eats away at the virus, cleaning them and making them pure. This VIRUS
is known as SIN. The BLOOD is the PRECIOUS CLEANSING BLOOD OF THE GREAT
PHYSICIAN, JESUS CHRIST.
72 HOURS LATER, there is a commotion at the JOSEPH OF ARIMATHEA MORGUE.
THE GREAT PHYSICIAN is not there anymore and the ANGELS that visit tell
loved ones who came there, that THE GREAT PHYSICIAN IS ALIVE.
Those at the CALVARY HOSPITAL OF SALVATION come to realize that His
CLEANSING BLOOD will never run out. Anyone infected who wants to be
healed can accept what JESUS did for them that one day on the CROSS of
WOOD at CALVARY near the ward called GOLGOTHA and be covered in His
precious CLEANSING BLOOD forever.
This happened 2000 years ago! It needed to
happen only once! JESUS paid the price for you and me so that we could
have the ANTIDOTE forever, for His cleansing BLOOD shed on the CROSS of
WOOD will never deplete but will be available for all races of humanity
forever until the JUDGMENT DAY.
You and I are responsible for Jesus putting
Himself in a position to go through excruciating pain, suffering, agony,
etc because we brought the deadly virus upon ourselves but Jesus decided
to intervene for our sake so that we can be REDEEMED.
In essence, it is you and I that nailed
Jesus to the cross. We might as well had held the HAMMER that pounded
the nails into His hands and feet, crown of thorns piercing His head,
and a spear piercing his heart because JESUS went to the CROSS for you
and me to deliver us by His precious cleansing blood.
This is overwhelming to know that someone would
die for me a sinner. It is one thing to die for someone godly but
another thing to die for someone that is a wretched rotten sinner. Yet,
Jesus did that for you and me. We are wretched sinners without hope of
the Great Physician.
Thank God for the Great Physician who
intervened on one Good Friday for you and me. Even though we
nailed Him to the cross, He offers His BLOOD for you and me in
UNCONDITIONAL LOVE.
We need to now accept the ANTIDOTE through a
TRANSFUSION before JUDGMENT DAY because after that the BLOOD won't be
available anymore to SAVE.
Now is the TIME OF SALVATION while you are
alive! Don't let the BLOOD JESUS SHED be in vain. JESUS became the DONOR
for you so accept the TRANSFUSION free of charge. It is given as a GIFT
OF GRACE!
You can forever be SAVED and allow JESUS to
TRANSFORM you. JESUS did not remain in the JOSEPH OF ARIMATHEA MORGUE
forever but after 72 HOURS came back to LIFE to SAVE. So let us accept
what Jesus did for us and be SAVED! There is a reason it is called
CALVARY HOSPITAL OF SALVATION!
Jesus did it so we can have a relationship with
Him who is our Heavenly Father. God came as God-incarnate to save
humanity. He paid the debt we could never pay back. The least we can do
is celebrate GOOD FRIDAY by receiving the antidote Jesus came to pay for
us. Praise the Lord!
"This is my blood of the covenant, which is
poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins." (Matthew 26:28, NIV)
"Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth,
unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have
no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal
life, and I will raise him up at the last day." (John 6:53-54, NIV)
"For all have sinned and fall short of the
glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the
redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented him as a sacrifice
of atonement, through faith in his blood." (Romans 3:23-25a,
NIV)
"But God demonstrates his own love for us in
this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now
been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's
wrath through him! For if, when we were God's enemies, we were
reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having
been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!" (Romans 5:8-10,
NIV)
"In
him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in
accordance with the riches of God's grace that he lavished on us with
all wisdom and understanding." (Ephesians 1:7-8, NIV)
"But now in Christ
Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the
blood of Christ." (Ephesians 2:13, NIV)
"For God was pleased to have all his fullness
dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things,
whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his
blood, shed on the cross." (Colossians 1:19-20, NIV)
"How much more, then, will the blood of Christ,
who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God,
cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that
we may serve the living God! For this reason Christ is the mediator of a
new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal
inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the
sins committed under the first covenant." (Hebrews 9:14-15, NIV)
"May the God of peace, who through the blood of
the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that
great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing
his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus
Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen" (Hebrews 13:20-21, NIV)
It is
exciting to know how Jesus lived His life and how He set example after
example for us to follow and match especially by paying the ULTIMATE
PRICE for our Salvation. I believe our attitude can be like Christ, as
we take our lessons from the Master Himself and give ourselves to Him
wanting to imitate Christ as we are covered in His precious BLOOD and
receive His GRACE to live our lives so we LIVE IN GRACE after we are
SAVED BY GRACE.
I know it won’t be easy to be a servant when the world emphasizes ‘me,
self, I, individualistic, and power concepts’ but the Good News is when
we have Jesus in us, we won’t be trying to live a life of servant hood
on our own but we will be allowing Jesus to work in us and through us.
He created us and knows how He can help us the best. What we need to do
is REST IN THE LORD and depend on Him to help us obey and follow. It
won’t be easy but thanks be to the Lord for His help!
Though Satan comes prowling, there is Good News for He cannot overcome
the Lion of Judah on the Throne! Yes, friend! Jesus is the Lion of Judah
and will help us for He knows what works against the devil. Jesus used
Scripture to attack the devil to overcome temptations and has given us
not only those Scriptures but more in the Bible : “Breathe In Bible Live
Eternally” for us to overcome Satan’s temptations and attacks. But we
need to take hold of the Word and realize that Satan will attack us when
we are the most vulnerable. However, we will defeat temptation with the
power of the Lord’s love and Word!
May
you know that you can imitate the Author of Life as He will work in your
life on and after HOLY WEEK! Amen!
"Jesus Emphasizes Serving Under Scripture!" (J.E.S.U.S)/"How
do you match J.E.S.U.S' attitude this HOLY WEEK?"
PRAYER:
Dear Jesus, thank you so much for being the
Author of my Life. You know everything about me and you know what you
put in me, for you created me and authored me. Thank you Jesus for that
means a lot to me! I belong to you and no one can snatch me away from
you even though people try to plagiarize and give credit to false
sources such as apes and evolutionists for creating me. Forgive us Lord
when we do not seek you with our whole heart. It is so awesome to know
that you are God and there is no other. Not only that Jesus, for me you
became a tiny baby and became a human being to live on earth and serve
humanity. Yet, you did not forget where you came from and who you are.
Thank you for your miracles and how much you understand what we go
through. You understand when we are tempted and betrayed. You understand
when we take a loss of a loved one. You understand so much and want to
offer yourself for us in our life. Thank you Jesus! I want my attitude
to reflect your lifestyle but I need your help so much for I cannot do
it on my own. Forgive me and help me.
Friend, we need Jesus because we have been separated from God due to our
sin. Because of our sin, Jesus had to pay the price to become our bridge
so we can reach God now not of our own good works but because of the
finished work of Christ, the Lord on the cross.
"For it is by grace you have been saved,
through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not
by works, so that no one can boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9, NIV)
May
you come to know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Personal Savior becoming
His offspring so you can spend Eternity with Him. He is waiting for you.
Come as you are. Please do not reject the gift of God.
May you be uplifted knowing
Deliverer openly understands bringing total Salvation! Amen!
If
you would like to invite Jesus Christ into your heart and make Him a
daily part of your life, you can this very moment. You will never be
alone. You can claim God's promises for you in the Bible and see them
come true, before your eyes, in His wonderful timing. You don't have to
wait for a special time to come to the Lord. You can come right now as
you pray this prayer, meaning it in your heart and finding your new
identity in Christ Jesus.
Make this your prayer. Don’t let
the enemy deceive you into thinking you need all the answers before
coming to Christ. Let me just assure you though you may not have all the
answers right now before coming to Jesus, He will answer them slowly.
Yes, He will for I know our Redeemer will! Amen!
Prayer:
Dear Jesus, thank you for foreshadowing once again about SAVING US when
you spoke to the disciples about the KERNEL OF WHEAT. Thanks for dying
for our sin so we can have Eternal Life and be saved when we turn to
you. The previous day, you allowed Mary to wash your dirty/stinking feet. Anything
you do has a reason and you foreshadowed what you would do for us one
day on the cross. You washed away all our sins with your precious
cleansing blood on the cross. Thank you so much Jesus. No matter what we
have done or where we have been, we can know that you love us and paid
the ransom to deliver us from the stench of sin. Thank you Jesus. I
accept the antidote you offer and want you to wash me clean with your
precious cleansing blood so I can have new life. My sin I give it all to
you so you can cover me with your righteousness. Help me Jesus. I don't
want to live like I have been living. I don't want my life to smell
because of the stinky/dirty sins of my life. I know you offer cleansing
and washing so I come to you now and receive it. Thank you for forgiving
me of all my sin when you paid the price on the cross for me which I
accept now. Please give me new life Jesus. Come into my heart and make
my heart your home. Live in me Jesus and I will live for you and help me
to serve you the rest of the days of my life so I can say, "Lord Jesus,
ANYTHING, ANYTIME, ANYWHERE, I am ready" as you strengthen me and walk
with me and talk to me. I love you Jesus. I accept you as my Lord and
Personal Savior. Please be my Lord and Personal Savior. Thank you for
helping me learn about what Mary did for you and the implications for
our own lives. Thank you that you have heard my prayer and answered me
giving me new life. In Your Name I Pray Jesus! Amen!
No matter what you feel in your heart,
know that Jesus has come in and resides with you! You are not alone! To
make your walk strong with the Lord, spend time in prayer talking to Him
as you would to a friend. You don’t need special words to talk to the
Lord. Spend time in His Word reading Psalms and turning them into
prayer. Next allow God to heal you and speak to you through the Gospel
of John or Gospel of
Mark before moving on to other Books of the Bible! Slowly, let the Lord
show you to which Scriptures He wants you to go to next. It is also important to be part of a body of believers to
help you grow in the faith. Find a Bible believing church that preaches
the Word of God from Genesis to Revelation proclaiming Jesus Christ our
crucified and risen Lord who brings us hope, healing, and help! But
beware of churches who do believe in the Word of God completely but
there is no freedom in Christ but legalism involved.
As a professional, it is not too late to join a
church! As a student, it is not too late to join a fellowship on campus this new year of 2009! May the Lord's presence and peace fill you with His
love now and forever! Amen!
Friend, if you have prayed this
prayer and meant it in your heart, you are a new creation in Christ and
all old things are passed away and everything has become new! You may
feel something or may not but don’t base it on feelings but base your
new life in Christ on the promises of our Savior who will never leave
you nor forsake you! Amen!
Spend time in His word and let the Lord
speak to you! Start out in the Gospel of John! You can also check out
the Gospel of Mark which are the devotionals I have been going through.
Learn from Jesus through study and prayer. Also find yourself a church
fellowship and a college fellowship you can be part of where you can be
part of a community of believers to supplement your own walk with the
Lord. Let it be a Bible-believing and Bible-breathing church! Believe in
Bible Live Eternally!
