Answering, "As a follower of Christ, I cannot give my vote
to either Bush or Kerry!"

PART
III:
The issue of ‘War on Terror’
"Then
the LORD said to Cain, ‘Where is your brother Abel?’ ‘I don't know,’ he
replied. ‘Am I my brother's keeper?’ ‘The LORD said, ‘What have you
done? Listen! Your brother's blood cries out to me from the ground. Now
you are under a curse and driven from the ground, which opened its mouth
to receive your brother's blood from your hand.’ (Genesis 4:9-11)
This next issue also
has to do with death and it involves murder. Even as I was thinking
about Genesis 4:9-11, it reminded me of 9-11 too! That was a tragic day
without words to say how thousands of people’s blood was crying out from
Ground Zero because they were murdered by terrorists.
As terrorists terrorize
people and cause death, I believe doctors terrorize the unborn and cause
their death. The difference however is that terrorism against the living
outside the mother’s womb is illegal but terrorism of the living inside
the mother’s womb is sanctioned by Roe v. Wade.
Going after terrorists
who were involved in 9-11 and killing them is not considered murder but
becomes sanctioned if we believe, ‘whoever sheds the blood of man, by
man shall his blood be shed.’
Sadly right now the
killing of the unborn is sanctioned by the law Roe v. Wade which goes
against God’s law. This however does not mean that I endorse or support
violence against doctors or clinics that perform abortion. I believe
Lord will handle the justice.
The Bush administration
has been fighting the ‘War on Terror’ by going after the terrorist
groups and trying their best to protect this nation from another attack.
As human beings none of us are flawless. We all need the Lord’s help.
When it comes to the ‘War on Terror’ we can protect our families from
attacks by giving a vote for Bush to continue in office because he
already has his administration in place especially the offices and
policies that have been implemented after 9-11. Having a Kerry
administration will remove those we already have in place and I believe
at this time in point a transitional change should not happen. Bush will
do a better job on the ‘War on Terror’.
But as followers of
Christ, if we decide to vote for Kerry or not vote at all, Kerry could
win and I don’t think it is smart to change government in midstream. I
believe strongly as leaders who are against abortion will also fight a
stronger ‘War on Terror’. Bush has been emphasizing a ‘culture of life’.
I trust in the Lord and
hoping to vote for Bush rather than wasting my vote! I hope you join me
in voting for Bush.
PART IV:
The issue of ‘War in Iraq’:
The next issue dealing
with death has to do with the ‘War in Iraq’. There is a lot of anti-war
and anti-Bush feeling because America went to war without complete
support from their allies. As Commander-in-Chief, Pres. Bush is in the
hot seat and has taken a lot of blame.
Did the Bush administration do what is
right or did it mess up badly?
There are those who
believe that we should not have gone to war without complete support
from our allies. If the allies were not going to help, they believe we
should have stayed out of Iraq rather than it being another Vietnam. I
know Bush seeks the Lord in prayer and asks for wisdom what must be done
even as he consults his advisors.
I am reminded of
Abraham who was still known as Abram going to rescue Lot from the
tyranny of King Kedorlaomer and his captivity. No, Bush does not come
close to Abraham but I saw important principles in this verse!
“When Abram heard that his relative had been
taken captive, he called out the 318 trained men born in his household
and went in pursuit as far as Dan. During the night Abram divided his
men to attack them and he routed them, pursuing them as far as Hobah,
north of Damascus. He recovered all the goods and brought back his
relative Lot and his possessions, together with the women and the other
people.” (Genesis 14:14-16, NIV)
The Bush administration
went after the tyrant Sadaam Hussein to rescue the Iraqi people and stop
him from producing ‘Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD’s)’. After we went
to war, the Iraqi people were rescued from Hussein but no (WMD) weapons
were found. Americans were sent to war believing that WMD’s were there
and Hussein posed a threat. The Bush administration based their decision
on the INTEL that it received. The Intel was supported by six separate
reports from different countries including Russia. Bush sent troops to
Iraq because of that Intel.
If we find out that Intel was wrong, is it
right to completely blame the Bush administration and call him a liar?
There are those who
believe it is right to call him a liar but I am reminded of an example
my mom gave me on a lighter note but I believe the same principle
applies.
A friend looks at a
report about a major sale occurring at a store. He believes the report
to be true and sends the report to his friend because he believes
trustworthy sources gave him that report. Now when the friend arrives at
the store because of the report and no sale was occurring, it does not
mean his friend lied to him. His friend was basing the sale on the
report that he received. The report happened to be a mistake but his
friend should not be called a liar.
We cannot blame the
Bush administration and call him a liar because WMD’s were not found.
His decision to go to war was primarily based on this faulty report by
six different groups. He did not lie but a mistake was made.
In this mistake,
America went to war with Iraq and is still fighting the war to help
oppressed people. Many are upset that we went to war without enough
international support.
My question is how much help is enough
international support?
There comes a time when
a country has to make a decision and go with it even if support from
others does not come. The Lord told a community to rescue children from
the sacrifice to Molech but the community may not have done their job
effectively. Eventually, when Josiah came into power, one of the things
he did was destroy the place that was sacrificing children to Molech.
I am reminded of the
Scriptures from Proverbs 24!
“For waging war you need guidance, and for
victory many advisers.” (Proverbs 24:6)
When the Bush
administration wanted to go to war with Iraq, it could not just go
without the guidance of Congress. Congress gave the president authority
to go to war based on the same Intel the president had. Now for victory,
the U.S needs many advisors. I believe many advisors are helping the
U.S. We did not need all our allies to support this war. We had enough
who were supporting it!
“If you falter in times of trouble, how small
is your strength! Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those
staggering toward slaughter. If you say, "But we knew nothing about
this," does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who
guards your life know it? Will he not repay each person according to
what he has done?” (Proverbs 24:10-12, NIV)
I believe when the U.S
and some of its allies went to war with Iraq, they went to rescue those
being led away to death. They went to hold back those staggering toward
slaughter from the regime of Hussein. They did not act like they knew
nothing about it. Once they had the report of WMD’s that became a valid
reason to go there. Once they were there, they did not want to leave
without finishing the job. Eventually they gave sovereignty to the Iraqi
government and are there to help out now. There are those who believe it
was for oil and other reasons. Even if that was the case, they still
helped the Iraqi people from the tyrant Hussein and his sons.
When people die in war,
I never consider it murder unless they are deliberately sent into the
battlefield with the intent of them getting killed as King David did to
Uriah because he slept Uriah’s wife Bethsheeba and wanted him to die.
Even after that, God in his mercy did not remove King David from the
throne after he repented.
Some may think what
Bush is doing is worse than what King David did but I don’t see that
way.
I consider it murder
when innocent children are slaughtered and we do not do anything about
it. Sadly, collateral damager in war does not make someone a murderer.
For someone to be a murderer there needs to be malice aforethought and
intent. I believe the war will be justified in the long run. Bush has
been consistent on the war and wants to help the Iraqi people be free.
Now there is trouble and instead of faltering in times of trouble, the
troops are sticking it out there to help the Iraqi government. I would
rather have Bush as president than Kerry who I don’t know where he
stands on this issue. He has changed his mind so many times that it is
hard to keep track.
As a follower of
Christ, I am giving my vote to Bush because of the changes that have
already occurred. Tragically in every war there are casualties and if I
had to go, I would have supported the president and gone. Even in
casualty, our casualties could be freedom for someone else.
PART V:
Issue of Gun Control!
The next issue that
deals with death has to do with gun control. I addressed this issue in
PART IV of ‘Answering the claim that neither candidate is going to
bring us closer to God.’ Based on that article, as a follower of Christ,
I am giving my vote for Pres. Bush.
