Answering, "Voting for neither candidate of a major political party is
going to bring us closer to God."

PART II:
One
presidential candidate of a major party voted into law the ‘Unborn
Victims of Violence Act’ also called the ‘Laci and Conner’s Law’ that
makes it a crime to harm a fetus during an assault on a pregnant woman.
It took five years to get through Congress but it passed. This candidate
values the life of a fetus God created.
The
other presidential candidate of a major party voted against the ‘Laci
and Conner’s Law’ not giving value to life inside a women’s womb. As a
follower of Christ, I cannot vote for that candidate even if all the
other non-moral issues hurt me financially.
God
is the Author of Life and we have no right to take that life unless God
has set the reasons for taking a life. It is here the issue of the death
penalty comes in.
The
Lord hates hands that shed innocent blood. (Proverbs 6:16-17, NIV)
The
life of a child inside the women’s womb is so precious to the Lord that
it was addressed in the Torah by Moses.
"If
men who are fighting hit a pregnant woman and she gives birth
prematurely but there is no serious injury, the offender must be fined
whatever the woman's husband demands and the court allows. But if there
is serious injury, you are to take life for life, eye for eye, tooth for
tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound,
bruise for bruise.” (Exodus 21:22-25, NIV)
These verses are talking about the unborn baby’s life.
The unborn baby’s life is so valued too that a life is to be given for a
life that is taken.
As
followers of Christ, we can give our vote to those who will try to make
a difference for the unborn in government. One candidate already shows
that he wants to make a difference. In the verse above we read, ‘and the
court allows’ which gives power to the courts.
Whoever wins this election, probably will get to appoint Supreme Court
Justices to fill vacancies that occur. The candidate we vote for will
determine what kind of Supreme Court Justices we will have who will play
a major role in the abortion legal fight. There are those who believe
that abortion should not be legislated but we see in Exodus, the
seriousness of injury to the unborn too!
I am
willing to vote for candidates who are Pro-Life. I believe helping to
save the lives of innocent unborn is one of the best things we can do in
this election. Only one candidate can help make that a reality because
the other candidate is Pro-Choice which leaves it to the women whether
she wants to abort her baby or not.
Abortion is not just a biblical issue but according to
Probe, there are medical, legal, and philosophical arguments against
abortion too.
If
other candidates who are running for office are both Pro-Choice, then I
look at candidates who can best help the presidential candidate in the
overall votes in the House and Senate that deal with Pro-Life issues.
Abortions may not directly affect you and me unless we know of someone
who has had an abortion but it is not about us and should not be about
us. Let us be a voice for the innocent blood of babies that cry out
because they are being slaughtered without being brought into this
world. Only one presidential candidate will uphold this biblical value
of valuing the precious life of an unborn.
But,
how can we base our entire vote on one issue you may be thinking?
This
is a major issue that affects the life of the unborn. Hypothetically
imagine that the issues mentioned above are all relevant issues but
instead of abortion, the issue becomes persecution of followers of
Christ.
Hypothetically, if one candidate was willing to persecute Christians,
even if you agreed with that candidate on all the other issues he wanted
to implement, are you going to give him your vote?
We
have a candidate who does not seem to mind if the unborn are persecuted
to death the way he has voted. The unborn cannot fight for themselves
and need you to fight for them. If you are for the life of the unborn,
please make your vote count this Nov 02, 04 for the candidate who does
not want to see the unborn slaughtered. even if you have issues with other
non-moral issues. I write this with watery eyes. I believe when we are
for moral issues that are biblical, all the other things will fall in
place.
This
however does not mean the other issues do not mean much but there are
issues that should be at the forefront that are asking for our vote. The
candidates’ stance on abortion is a major issue for me and hope it is
for you too.
Abortion deals with the unborn but there is another issue that deals
with the living. I am referring to ‘Gay Marriage’. When I think about
the Bible, what comes to my mind is Breathe In Bible
Live Eternally!
According to Psalm 139, the Lord is He who forms our body and it is not
up to any doctor to kill the body that has been formed. The Lord has
given us His Word as our instruction manual to live our lives. We need
to breathe in the Word of God and let it become a daily part of our
lives as breathing is. As we follow the Word of God, we will live
eternally with Jesus Christ!
What
does it have to do with Gay Marriage you may wonder?
Scripture is
totally against the act of homosexuality and we have two candidates who
have differing views on the issue. Before sharing their views, I wanted
to share with you why ‘Gay Marriage’ is a major issue for me after the
issue of abortion.
Biblical scripture states, “Do you not know that the wicked will not
inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually
immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual
offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor
swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you
were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in
the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God…Flee from
sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body,
but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. Do you not know that
your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have
received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price.
Therefore honor God with your body” (1 Corinthians 6:9-11, 18-20, NIV)
These verses emphasize how bad the act of homosexuality is among other
vices too but there is also hope too. ‘And that is what some of you
were’ meaning what they used to be was wrong, but what they have become
is changed in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our
God.
If
the act of homosexuality is bad then how much worse is being married to
another person of the same gender. Let it be known having homosexual
tendencies or temptation is not a sin but giving into it is.
In
the beginning God created Adam and then He created Eve to be a companion
for Adam. Throughout Scripture, marriage has been between man and woman.
If we say we are a follower of Jesus Christ then we have a duty to
follow His Word.
“Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the
man, and he brought her to the man. The man said, "This is now bone of
my bones
and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called 'woman, ' for she was taken
out of man." For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and
be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.” (Genesis
2:22-24, NIV)
We
read ‘a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife,
and they will become one flesh.’ As Jesus was speaking he told the
crowds too, “But at the beginning of creation God 'made them male and
female.' 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be
united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.' So they are no
longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not
separate." (Mark 10:6-9, NIV)
Jesus tells the crowds that God made them male and female and they are
the ones to be married. Marriage has always been defined as a union
between a man and a woman. This is what God desires and wants His
followers to support too. Yet, when we decide our vote does not matter
because we think neither candidate will bring us closer to God, we are
not supporting what our Lord stands for. We also then give the other
candidate the opportunity to win because those who are for abortion and
Gay Marriage intend to come out in full force to vote.
History will show and has shown where the definition of marriage has
been anything but between a man and a woman, troubles have occurred and
lives have been affected negatively. All you have to do is look at the
statistics of Scandanavian countries that legalized ‘Gay Marriage’.
Now
a state Supreme Court from where one of the presidential candidates is
from has legalized ‘Gay Marriage’ in that state and some elected
officials in other states decided to hand out marriage licenses for
homosexual partners to be married. This is not what our Lord wants for
America which was founded on Judea-Christian principles. This however
does not mean that the founders were flawless for they made terrible
mistakes in the past and I hope they repented before their death.
