Answering, "Voting for neither candidate of a major political party is
going to bring us closer to God."

PART III:
Legalizing ‘Gay Marriage’ in one state caused such an uproar that Bible
believing Christians and those for the sanctity of marriage fought for
the ‘Federal Marriage Amendment’ that one of the presidential candidate
supports. It was defeated because there were those who voted against the
FMA. One of the presidential candidates opposed the FMA.
Ask
yourself if you want candidates who support what Jesus defined as
marriage or candidates that support Gay Marriage.
You have the power to
vote the candidate that will uphold the sanctity of marriage. That is
the same candidate that has fought for the life of the unborn.
Four years ago, 17 million Evangelical Christians did not
vote but my prayer is this time they will take action. Don’t let anyone
tell you that your vote does not matter and no candidate will bring us
closer to God. No candidate is perfect but there are candidates that are
against taking the life of the unborn and preserving the sanctity of
marriage. Recently, 70% of voters in Missouri voted for the ban on gay
marriage.
These past four years, one candidate signed into law the
ban on partial-birth abortion and the ‘Unborn Victims of Violence Act’
while the other candidate decided not to vote on ‘the ban on
partial-birth abortion’, the cloture vote for the ‘Federal Marriage
Amendment’ that he opposed, and also voted against the ‘Unborn Victims
of Violence Act’. It is very striking that this candidate has missed 2/3
of the votes in the Senate. It made me wonder if he did not vote because
he did not want people to know his vote on those issues.
My brothers and sisters in Christ, we are not electing
someone to run a theocratic government but a democratic government. Yet,
we can elect someone who will be against abortion and gay marriage that
the Biblical scripture speaks against. The Bible speaks on a lot of
issues that are not limited to these two but I believe when these two
issues are addressed, the Lord will help the candidate to flourish in
the other issues that will bring the Lord honor and glory.
You can seek the Lord and make your vote count. We do not
know the results but what we can be sure of is that we have done our
part and the rest is in the Lord’s hands.
There are so many issues facing the nation this election time but it is
important to realize when moral issues are tackled head on, the nation
will be in a better footing. To make that happen we need a president
that will prevent courts from having activist justices on the bench but
those who will uphold what the Constitution really was meant for. When
there is moral rot within the leadership of a nation, the nation suffers
more.
One candidate seems to want to be a friend for all and in the process
he compromises where he stands on issues just to receive people’s votes.
The other candidate has not changed his ideals on what he believes in.
Morality is what keeps a nation stable and everything else will fall in
place. Without morality what kind of nation will we be!
There are those who
want gun control but there are already laws for gun control. The Second
Amendment gives the right for people to bear arms. When it comes to gun
control, both candidates are not completely for it. Even if one
candidate was for gun control, it is not a moral issue but a legal
issue. It is a good thing to have guns off the street and I believe in
time it will happen. The key issues for me are abortion and gay
marriage.
I believe all the other issues are mainly self-serving
issues.
Even if they are not and one candidate scores highly on all of them but
is not for the unborn and not for ‘Federal Marriage Amendment’, do you
want him to be the Commander-in-Chief, who has to answer to the Lord?
I know I don’t want
a candidate who is against those issues because when those issues are
tackled, I believe the Lord will give the candidate wisdom to handle the
other issues.
I believe the ‘War on Terror’ and the ‘Iraq War’ too will
be better handled with the presidential candidate who is against
abortion and gay marriage. He already has in place his administration
from four years ago. It is hard to know where the other candidate really
stands on this issue. You can check out
Presidential Candidate on Iraq Documentary. Both candidates desire
to help the poor, have racial reconciliation, improve education, the
economy, and help with health care. The major differences I see are on
the issues of Abortion, Gay Marriage, and the ‘War on Terror’.
Will you as a follower of Christ make a
difference in this election and vote for the candidate who has proven
himself on his stance on life-death moral issues?
You do matter and your vote counts in the larger
scheme of things. It can be easy to think that you are just one person
and what can your vote do, but you have the power to keep the candidate
who is against abortion and gay marriage, etc in office and allow new
candidates for these issues into office. You have the right to
vote and you can make it count. Yes, you maybe just one person who
decides to go out and vote but all the 1’s add up and eventually
thousands come to the poll to vote.
No candidate is perfect. Even in biblical times, King David
was not perfect but Scripture states that he was a man after God’s own
heart. He repented of his wrong doings and the Lord helped him govern
the kingdom even through trials and tribulations. When we put a
candidate in office who we believe will uphold biblical values, it is
best for the country. Whatever is forbidden in Scripture is for our
benefit and not to hurt us. We do hurt ourselves and the country when we
do not vote or vote for those who do not uphold biblical values.
“If my people, who are called by my name,
will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their
wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and
will heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to
the prayers offered in this place.” (2 Chronicles 7:14-15, NIV)
Again no one is perfect but there is a saying that it is
better to vote ‘for the lesser of the evils’. In other words, you may
not think neither candidate is going to bring us closer to God, but the
right candidate can make a difference and with our prayers for our
leaders, we can see change.
One of the verses that made an impact on me has been,
“For whoever wants to save his life will lose it,
but whoever loses his life for me will find it. What good will it be for
a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a
man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of Man is going to come
in his Father's glory with his angels, and then he will reward each
person according to what he has done.” (Matthew 16:25-27, NIV)
May we make our vote count through Jesus Christ our Lord!
Amen!
