SCRIPTURE:
"When Joseph
woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and
took Mary home as his wife. But
he had no union with her until she gave birth to a son. And he gave
him the name Jesus.” (Matthew 1:24-25, NIV)
APPROACH QUESTION:
"Whose commands do you follow in life and why?"
OBSERVATIONS:
I asked myself what do I learn
about Joseph?
1. When
Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him
and took Mary home as his wife!
2.
But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a son.
3. And he gave him the name Jesus.
INTERPRETATIONS:
I asked myself why is it so significant
that Joseph did what the angel of the Lord had commanded?
For Joseph, the thought of taking Mary home as his wife was very
troubling when he found out that she was already pregnant but when
the angel of the Lord commanded him and told him why he should take
Mary home as his wife, he obeyed. He did not go his own way but did
as the angel of the Lord commanded him to. There was no disobedience
in Joseph thinking to himself what would other people think if I
obey the Word, etc. On the contrary, he obeyed the Word.
INTERPRETATIONS:
I asked myself why do you think it is
emphasized,
'But he had no union with her until she
gave birth to a son?'
I found it humbling that Joseph, did not want to take credit for Mary's
pregnancy when he knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that Mary's child
is born of God and will become
Immanuel- God with us. By sacrificing
union with his wife for more than 9 months, Joseph was setting an
example of all the credit going to God and none of it to himself. It
must have been hard for Joseph to be married to his wife Mary but
not be with her even after marriage for those 9 months but credit
and glory going to the Lord was his priority. That is amazing and
awesome to know! Thank you Jesus. In a world, where so many try to
take credit for themselves instead of giving it to the Lord first
and foremost, it shows not only Joseph's character but shows the
credit for a miracle should always go to God.
IMPLICATIONS:
I asked myself what are the implications for my own life?
I need to obey the Lord's commands especially when it is difficult
for me. For obedience without sacrifice is easy and anybody can do
it. It is obedience that comes while I am sacrificing my own
desires to the cross for the Lord's desires is what makes the Lord
Jesus happy. I want Jesus to be happy and be known for obeying His
Word. Lord Jesus, please help me. As I obey the Lord's commands, I
need to rememeber I should want all the credit and glory going to the Lord in my life
where I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that it is the Lord's doing
and not my own. But more than that, I should want others to know
any miracle that happens in my own life that the credit, glory, and honor goes to the Lord and without the
Lord's intervention, it would not have happened. The pointing should
be upward and not to myself. You should do the same friend.
I ask you now dear
friend, how do you show C.R.E.D.I.T in your life? Dear friend,
when we obey the Lord's commands, we are giving credit to the Lord
in our lives because we are letting the Lord know our allegiance is
to Him first and foremost. When we thank the Lord for the big
miracles and little miracles in our lives, we are giving credit to
the Lord because of His miracles in our lives. Our obedience to the
Lord for his commands, show a lot about who we give credit to for
our lives but also reveal to the world our character. When it comes to commands, there are only two
that are vying for your obedience. One is the Lord who loves you so
much and wants to give you abundant life. The other is Satan who
hates you so much and wants to steal, kill, and destroy your life.
The choice is yours who you will obey but with the choices come
consequences too. Obedience to the Lord is the right way to go
friend. So come and obey His Word this Christmas season and beyond
so you will be giving credit to the One who loves you so much.
The Lord knows what is best for you and wants to be your
'Immanuel - God with us', revealing Himself to you in a
special way.
Jesus said, "The thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy but my
purpose is to give life in all it's fullness" (John 10).
Yes, friend Satan wants to rob you by deceiving you into thinking
it's not worth obeying the commands of the Lord when they take away
your fame, fun, and fortune.
But friend, even if you were to get fame, fun, and fortune but you
have no joy, what is the use.
What profit is it to gain the whole world but lose our soul?
When that happens, rest assured Satan will take credit for it. We
don't want that but want Jesus to have the credit for our lives.
Help us Jesus!
With the Lord Jesus, when you obey His commands, even if they
don't lead to fame, fun, and fortune, you will have the joy of the
Lord and have the peace that you are doing the will of God belonging
to the King of Kings and Lord of lords. When you have that peace,
what else could you ask for. When you are obedient to the Lord's
calling as Joseph was even though it was difficult for him, the Lord
will take care of the rest just as he did for Joseph. Yes, friend
but it starts with a full surrender of your life to Jesus and all He
wants for you. The best credit is getting credit from the Lord for
it will never run out of balance. I am not talking about debt
because the Lord Jesus took away all our debt of sin. I am talking
about the overflowing abundant living the Lord promises us which is
not dependent on fame, fun, and fortune. Help us Lord Jesus. This is
not to say followers of Christ don't achieve those. But even when
they are achieved the glory and credit is given to the Lord.
But if it is not achieved and our faith is growing strong in
the Lord and in the power of His might, we will have all the
spiritual fame, spiritual fun, spiritual fortune with Jesus as our
Lord and Personal Savior guiding us and leading us through. This is
exciting to know friend.
My loving wife Chandraleela loves to
sing the hymn, 'I Surrender All'. It is a powerful hymn about
complete surrender and obedience to Jesus, the Lord and Savior
of the Universe. When you and I completely surrender our lives to
the Lord Jesus Christ, we in essence will be able to obey His
commands not in our own strength but in the strength of the Lord by
His grace. That is exciting to know! Help me Jesus!
"Walk in the Spirit and you will not gratify the desires of the
flesh!"
Friend, for obeying the Lord's commands is the only way to have true
freedom. When we obey His Word, we will realize what sinful beings
we are in need of a Savior. That is why Jesus came as God-incarnate
to live among us to save us from our sin. But Jesus did not just
come to save us but to help us make Him the Lord of our lives so we
can have abundant living and true freedom. That is exciting friend
for me. I hope it is for you too.
"Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is
Freedom!"
So come as you are and give yourself to the Lord asking him to
forgive you of all your sins and give you a new beginning. He will
friend! Yes, He will this Christmas season! Praise the Lord! He will
be the credit you are looking for. He is the only credit you need to
apply for with these words: "Lord Jesus, take
me a sinner and make me what you want me to be by your precious
Blood covering over me. Thank you Jesus!"
May you understand that the commands of the Lord are for your
blessings and benefit that show you give credit to the Lord for His
workings in your life though you may not understand always why we
have to do the things we have to do in His Word. Yet, He will reveal
it in His timing! Praise the Lord!

do you show C.R.E.D.I.T in your life?"
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I pray Oh Lord that you would help me be obedient to you
Oh Lord. When we are obedient to you, we can be obedient to all you
call us to do whether it is being a good husband/wife, good
father/mother, good son/daughter, etc knowing all the credit goes to
you. For that all to happen, we
need you Oh Lord. We cannot obey your commands without your help for
there will be tremendous interference from Satan to lead us astray.
But this Christmas season, I pray Oh Lord that you Oh Lord would
bring back to you those that are going astray from the path you have
chosen for them. Help them to know for certainty that you alone can
give abundant life and abundant living. Help us to know the credit
for miracles goes to you. We all need you and ask for
your help surrendering our life to you and asking you to make our
life what you want it to be. Help us to obey as Joseph did. Thank
you so much Jesus! In Your Name I Pray Jesus! Amen!
Lord Jesus, You are
my all in all. You are my Prince of Peace, Rock, Savior, and Friend. You
are my Holy Father guiding me through to live a life of righteousness,
holy righteousness. Oh God, I need you more than ever. I need to feel
your hands around me holding me tight. I need your love to surround me
so that you can glow in my life. Help me please Jesus. I desire in your
presence. Thank you for guiding me to live a life of righteousness. Oh
God you love me more than ever. You hear my voice when I cry out to you.
When I seek your face, you fill me up. You are my all in all. Thank you
Jesus so much for your help no matter what I face, your grace is
available and you take my case. Thank you for hearing us and answering
us. In Your Name I Pray Jesus! AMEN! (Most of the prayer is from a
vineyard song called “All in All”)
May the Lord Jesus guide you in
His love leading you! Amen!
No matter what you feel in your heart,
know that Jesus has come in and resides with you! You are not alone! To
make your walk strong with the Lord, spend time in prayer talking to Him
as you would to a friend. You don’t need special words to talk to the
Lord. Spend time in His Word reading Psalms and turning them into
prayer. Next allow God to heal you and speak to you through the Gospel
of John or Gospel of
Mark before moving on to other Books of the Bible! Slowly, let the Lord
show you to which Scriptures He wants you to go to next. It is also important to be part of a body of believers to
help you grow in the faith. Find a Bible believing church that preaches
the Word of God from Genesis to Revelation proclaiming Jesus Christ our
crucified and risen Lord who brings us hope, healing, and help by His
grace alone!
