Quiet Times (Psalm 84, Proverbs 24, and Matthew 24)
“O Lord Almighty, blessed is the man who trusts in you.” (Psalm 84:12)
What stuck out in my mind is the phrase ‘trusts in you.’ It is an action that results with a blessing as evidenced by the phrase, “blessed is the man.”
I learned that as we continue to trust in the Lord, we are blessed and it is a promise we can hold on to. It is an exciting promise to claim.
I ask you now dear friend, how is your trust?
Dear friend, the Lord Jesus wants you to trust in Him. I do not know what you have been through or where you have been but the Lord knows and He will impart His blessings in your life as you trust in Him as He even works in me as I turn to Him.
Trust may not be something that is easy to come for you especially if you have been badly hurt by other people. Sometimes the way we are hurt by people has a tendency to carry over to the perception we have of our Heavenly Father. This is especially the case if we have a earthly father who has not been around and we did not build a trusting relationship. But you know what, no matter how much you are affected because of the hurts you have been through, the Lord wants to reach out to you and bring you blessings and healings.
There is a promise in 1 John 3:1 that states, “How great is the love the Father has lavished upon us that we should be called His dear children.”
That is so awesome to know! Thank you Jesus!!!
I have been through a lot of pain that actually revolved around TRUST. After the things that happened, I had a hard time trusting and that carried over to my lack of trust in the Lord until I came to the point where I knew no matter how I had been hurt, the Lord can be trusted.
I may not know completely why things happened the way they did and may need time to trust again but I have come to the point where I can put my complete trust in the Lord knowing that He had reasons to allow the things that happened.
As long I could not trust in the Lord completely, I suffered until I came to the place where I needed to have a ruthless kind of trust in the Lord no matter what the situation. This means my trust in the Lord should not be based only when things are going well for me but in times of stress and distress. Right now I am reading a book called "Ruthless Trust" that I am going over with my pastor. It is by Brennan Manning. My pastor was honest and helpful in asking me to read this book because Pastor Andrew Gill knew where I had been and where I am now.
You know to be able to trust in the Lord with all aspects of your life even when people hurt us, we can find a sense of peace and joy because the Lord will be filling us up with His love and presence. So naturally, we will be blessed even if we cannot see tangible results of those blessings right away.
I cannot tell you to trust people who hurt you because it is something you have to pray and work through. I know I am having a hard time but what I do want to tell you is to trust in the Lord though people hurt you an depend on the Lord to help you be able to trust that person/s once again. He is our Wounded Healer and a mender of broken hearts and relationships. He can help us trust again. Jesus loves you so much that He does not want your heart to be troubled but to trust in Him with everything you are going through.
You can come to Him with all of your worries, carries, and needs for He is always thinking about you and watching everything that concerns you. Oh yes, He is friend and He loves us unconditionally! He is the Lord Almighty, our Defender and Protector as Psalm 84 reminds me.
To Really Understand Savior’s Truth! (T.R.U.S.T)/”Where is your Trust?”
Prayer:
Dear Jesus, your Word says that blessed are those who put their trust in you. Oh Lord, when we have been hurt it can be easy to lose trust especially when our criteria for trusting is shattered by other people’s actions and we project that towards you too. Forgive us when we have done that and have waivered from trusting you. Oh Lord, it is not easy for me to trust those that have hurt me and I need your help to trust again. I thank you that you offer us your trust and we can trust in you always. We thank you that our hearts need not be troubled. I thank you for the blessings that come from trusting you. Jesus, no matter what is happening around us help us never to lose our trust in you but always hold on to you Jesus. I thank you for being our Defender and Protector. Thank you for hearing us and answering us. In Your Name I Pray Jesus! Amen!
Love in Christ,
Ramesh
