Pitt student experiences love of the
the
Cross Seekers

We all know that moving to a new place can be exciting, but
it can also
be difficult and lonely when done alone. I was experiencing just
that
few weeks ago when I was given hot chocolate and a flier by a member
of the
Cross Seekers organization. The flier invited me to a Friday night
welcome-back-to-school event, and I decided to go, hoping to meet a few
people.
Little did I suspect as I walked over from my dorm in the towers that
so many
people would be willing to welcome me to Pitt with open arms.
There have been
very few times in my life where I have felt such inclusion as
when I was there.
We laughed, talked, sang mad karaoke, and learned to line
dance even. Afterward,
a slew of people wanted to know what my e-mail was,
could I have lunch with them,
did I want to go see a movie with them, was I
going to church on Sunday, would I need
a ride to church on Sunday, and did I
want to just hang out with them?
The people of this organization definitely have learned one
of Jesus’ teachings well:
to love people. He never taught to just love
Christians, to love children, to love our family,
to love friends, Jesus taught
us to love everyone, no matter who they are.
The Pitt Cross Seekers did just
that. They loved me before they knew my name.
