Alli’s Analysis of Inaugural Meeting

As for myself, when the meeting first started off, I was pretty nervous!I think I can speak on behalf of all the board members and say that they were a little nervous too.  This was our first public board meeting, and our first time to have to make decisions and have discussions PUBLICLY as a group.  However, once the meeting started, I think everyone began to feel more comfortable.

The meeting started pretty serious.  We all shared our announcements and reports, and each board member, as well as President Pasqualichio mentioned how honored we were to be sitting where we were, as well as be in the company of other great student leaders.  The meeting was pretty serious and pretty formal, however, at the end, some of the board members slipped in a comment or two (kind of an inside joke from our retreat) that I couldn't help but to laugh at!

At the first meeting, each board member just mentioned what liaison they would be to what committee, as well as their goals for the upcoming year. We also, as an entire board, voted on four different allocations requests. With each vote, we unanimously came to a decision, which I think really shows the strength and cohesiveness of our group.  It was a great way to start our term!

All in all, the meeting went great.  It was kind of surreal--I never thought that I would be sitting at that table with 8 other phenomenal students. It was such an honor, and I am so excited for what's to come!
