Students should not watch movies that violate the lawToday’s students will become leaders of tomorrow and their voice in the upcoming election will make a difference. As students you can choose to side with the candidate who takes a righteous stand on moral issues or takes an unrighteous stand on moral issues. Our next president of the U.S will have an influence on how the U.S will be remembered on issues such as abortion, same-sex marriage, war on terror, etc. With moral rot within the leadership of the nation, the nation and its values are in danger of toppling. You all have an opportunity to elect the right president who will appoint justices in different courts and the Supreme Court who will not be activist judges but follow the Constitution. If you want morality in government, the ticket of presidential candidate Kerry-Edwards is not the answer. We need a president of a nation who is against homosexuality, abortion, etc. We also need a president who is strong on the war on terror. It is sad that a movie like "Fahrenheit 9/11," Michael Moore's slam against the Bush administration comes out during the election year. First of all, there is a lot of fabrication in it and I believe it also violates election policies. The whole idea behind the McCain-Feingold campaign finance law that went into effect is to prevent massive spending by groups that are not directly connected with the candidates so special interest groups with tons of money do not control the elections. By playing ads for this movie, I believe this movie is in violation of the McCain-Feingold law. Students need to see how low some Democratic candidate’s supporters will go to have their candidate elected. If Kerry-Edwards wanted the law to be followed, they themselves would have spoken against the movie stating that it does violate the McCain-Feingold law and we don’t want to be a part of it. Since this movie is a slam against a particular candidate, it should not have even been released. As students and leaders of tomorrow, do not associate yourself with the Kerry-Edwards campaign but follow the Bush-Cheney ticket who have more moral stance on issues than you would find with the Kerry-Edwards ticket.
