SCRIPTURE:"They discussed this with one another and said, "It is because we have no bread. Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked them: "Why are you talking about having no bread? (Mark 8:16-17a, NIV)

OBSERVATION:
I asked myself what is Jesus' reaction to the disciples internal discussion of having no bread without involving Him?
Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked them: "Why are you talking about having no bread?

INTERPRETATION:
I asked myself what is the significance of Jesus' first reaction?
What became so significant to me was that Jesus was aware of the disciples discussion even though it was an internal discussion among themselves. Jesus knew what they were discussing and asked them a profound question, "Why are you talking about having no bread?"

IMPLICATIONS:
I saw important implications for my own life. No matter what I am discussing with others, Jesus is already aware of it too. Just yesterday night of Fri, July 25, 08 after going to see the class of PGSIS 2007 at their reunion and saying good bye to the PGSIS class of 2008, I went to our Bible study cell group called Living Acts. During prayer time and afterwards, I was discussing with Edwin, a dear brother in Christ about a question he posed to me regarding my service to the PGSIS class of 2008.

He said something like, "Ramesh, let me ask you this question: Do you like to be recognized as the PGSIS Class of 2008 recognized you during one of their speeches or would you have liked to receive a gift from them like all the other PGSIS Classes before them?"

We were discussing how much I always like gifts as a memorable keepsake item because recognition is not tangible to look at and say, 'Wow, I got this at so and so place because of my service to them'

We were also discussing about how towards the end of the program, I was not allowed to take any pictures or videos like I was allowed to in all the previous years and that had bothered me towards the end because I had always done that all the previous years.

We were also discussing that I am not a person to expect gifts from others unless they somehow hint to the fact that they want to get me something before they leave.

When certain students had asked me, 'What is your favorite restaurant?; What is your favorite music group?; What is your favorite animated Disney movie?; What is your favorite fruit?; What is your favorite pie? and I had given them my responses, I figured they were up to something and excited for a gift.

I figured maybe they would put a poster together, etc for me like previous years. But Edwin told me that maybe they were playing a game and needed to find out the things you liked and you mistook it as they were planning to do something for you and had expectations that you should not have had. I should not have had those expectations but I usually make inferences based on circumstances and well it did not work out.

I was definitely surprised for being recognized in a speech by the students, for taking care of them, during the closing ceremonies and day before yesterday at the Talent Show.

I shared with Edwin, I realized I was not much of a person for verbal recognition in front of people than for other types of recognition. But that definitely was a special surprise for me no other class had done for me and I will cherish that thought.

I was also sharing that I may have done some things wrong with this class and that's why I was told not to take pictures or videos as I have always done for the paper in the past because from a journalistic and legal mind things did not add up for me.

When things do not go well for me I am the kind of person that sees it as a sign to move on so I shared that with Edwin too especially after all these years being prevented from taking pictures and videos in the middle of the program.

Edwin told me that I have one year to think and pray about it whether the Lord Jesus wants me to come back to serve the PGSIS Class of 2009 or not. I will come back if the Lord wills and not because of pictures, videos, gifts, etc. Each year I don't know if I will be back for another year until mid-week of June so I do have a lot of time to pray and think about it.

After prayer was over and my discussion with Edwin was over, Jesus already knew what I discussed with Edwin just as He knew what the disciples were discussing.

When I went home and was spending time with Jesus, an interesting question came to my mind, "Why are you talking about having no gift?"

Jesus was aware how much gifts have always meant to me especially when there were reasons to expect it but Jesus wanted me to see beyond the gifts and remember why I started to serve classes of PGSIS students.

I felt Jesus asking me a question, "Did you serve the PGSIS 2008 students for what you can get from them or for what you could give them?"

Jesus also reminded me that I started serving PGSIS students and non-PGSIS students as a means to ministry, not to get something from them. I wanted to minister to them in word and deed making their time special when they came to eat.

That is so true but just as the disciples forgot about what Jesus could do for them with the bread they did have even though they forgot the bread they felt they needed to have, I realized I had forgotten why I chose to serve another class of PGSIS students.

It has never been to receive gifts but to reach out to them with the love of Christ through surprises, through poetry, through facebook, etc. Since my motive has always been to reach out to classes with the love of Christ, it is not dependent on whether I can take pictures, videos, or get gifts.

If I had to serve this PGSIS CLASS again for another 4 weeks knowing I would not get any tangible gift or be able to take pictures or videos, I would still do it in a heartbeat taking care of them, making them feel loved, making them feel special, etc by reaching out to them with the love of Christ by word and deed.

I thank the Lord Jesus for making me see that each class is different and yet special in their own way. What I remember intangibly about this class is the number of times they expressed such gratitude in thanks, the number of hugs I received, the number of pictures they took of me even though I could not take pictures of them, and also having my picture in one of their videos.

More than anything I am so glad that through this experience of discussing with Edwin & others at the Bible study cell group prayer time and community time and my own time with the Lord Jesus, how aware Jesus is what's be on my mind.

I ask you now dear friend, what is Jesus aware of in your life?
Dear friend, based on Jesus' interaction with the disciples, Jesus was keenly aware of what they were discussing even though He was not part of their internal discussion and addressed their issues.

Jesus made me see that Jesus is aware of what I was discussing, what I was sharing, and what I was feeling about my experience the last day of work for the summer. Jesus being aware, He also made me see where I was faltering and going wrong.

Jesus had to bring me back to the place where I started to remind me about how I viewed life and what presenting the Gospel and ministry for God's honor and glory had meant to me.

Being selfishly focused on expecting a gift, I had lost that perspective for the night and forgotten theme verse of my life which says, "But life is worth nothing unless I use it to do the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus, the work of telling others about God's mighty goodness and love." (Acts 20:24, TLB)

I am glad I discussed it with Edwin and brought it before the Lord in front of others for their prayers. Their prayers have worked and I praise the Lord for that.

As I got up at 6:15 a.m. to spend time with the Lord and write this devotional, I came to see that whatever I have been doing whether it is taking classes, publishing http://www.pittsburghstandard.com, forgoing vacation to serve PGSIS classes in the summer, writing sample exams for students, being on http://www.facebook.com, going to sports games, working in dining services to serve students, etc has all been as a means to reach out to others with the love of Christ.

Jesus made me aware of that again this morning. Jesus knows what you are going through too and is aware of your situations too.

No matter what you are faced with Jesus is aware and wants to intervene in your life as He intervened in the life of the disciples and my own life.

Come to Jesus as you are and bring all your requests before Him. Yes, Jesus could question you but it will be for your own good to change you and transform you. That is how our Lord is.

More than anything Jesus is aware of the condition of our heart and our motives to why we do things, why we say things, etc. It is this condition of the heart and motives that Jesus wants to deal in you and me. Jesus knows everything about us and nothing is hidden from Him and yet He loves you and me so much and wants to take care of us.

Yes, friend Jesus loves you so much and will take care of you no matter what you are going through when you turn to Him. Come to Him as you are because to save us from our human condition of the sinful nature, Jesus came into this world.

Only Jesus knew that He could save us by the antidote only He had so Jesus went to the cross and shed His precious cleansing blood so we can have the antidote for the deadly virus known as sin. But just as any blood transfusion, Jesus was not going to give us His blood unless we asked for it. Jesus became the donor of the antidote for humanity and all those that wanted the antidote, Jesus has given it to them.

Jesus gave His antidote of His precious cleansing blood for me to wipe away all my sins and cleanse me with His precious cleansing blood. Being a Hindu did not make that possible for me for only Christ's redeeming sacrifice on the cross brought my redemption when I turned to Him. Jesus redeemed and gave me new life in Christ.

Jesus can do that for you too if you do not already know Him as your Lord and Personal Savior. Come to Jesus as you are and allow Him to work in your life as He continues to work in my life.

Acknowledge that you have this deadly virus known as sin for we all have had it. Acknowledge that only Christ's cleansing blood can wash you whiter than snow cleaning you of this deadly virus. Believe in your heart that Jesus died to pay the ransom for your sin, was buried, and on the third day rose from the dead to give Eternal life and salvation to all those who believed. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and that you are in need of being saved. It is by grace we have been saved through faith so you will be save by God's grace when you turn to Him.

Prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus, thank you so much for speaking to me from your Word especially when I have been down. Your Word and studying it makes me see the implications for my own life that I need to learn and understand. Oh Lord, you can even use just one verse to speak to us from your Word. Oh Lord thanks for being aware of what we go through and what we discuss. Oh Lord Jesus thanks so much for being aware of our human condition and that you save us. Help us to always be focused on you. I pray Oh Lord for the one that does not yet know you as their Lord and Personal Savior that they will come to know you. And Lord if they have come to know you as their Lord and Personal Savior but have gone their own way, bring them back to you and continue to shower them with your love. Thank you so much Jesus. Help us to always depend on you. In Your Name I Pray Jesus! Amen!!

If you want Christ in your life, make this your prayer. Don’t let the enemy deceive you into thinking you need all the answers before coming to Christ. Let me just assure you though you may not have all the answers right now before coming to Jesus, He will answer them slowly. Yes, He will for I know our Redeemer will! Amen!

Prayer:
Jesus, I thank you for being the Bread of Life. You are the Living Bread of my life. Thank you for coming from Heaven and giving your life for the life of the world. You sacrificed yourself for humanity. Thank you Lord when we eat of you symbolically making you part of our life, digesting what you teach us by following you, we can be living Eternally, and the fruit that comes will reflect and resemble your life. I want that Father God. I want that Lord Jesus! I want that Holy Spirit! I know of a lot of people who partake of Holy Communion where the bread represents your body broken for their sin and the juice represents your blood shed for their sin. When we partake of Holy Communion, we are reminded that we are remembering you. I want to remember you always Lord Jesus. But for me to remember you always, I need to know you and acknowledge everything you said you are. So right now I acknowledge that you are my Lord and Personal Savior who died and rose again to give me life from sin. So right now, I come to you and say how sorry I am for my sin and living a life on my own. I repent of my sin and ask you to forgive me of my sin with your cleansing blood which I accept. Wash me and I will be clean from this infection of sin. Come Lord Jesus and please become part of my life as you live in me and I will live for you. I thank you Jesus for coming into my heart and making my heart your home. Thank you for living in me Jesus and I will live for you and serve you the rest of the days of my life. I do need your Spirit to reside in me and work in me and through me so I surrender all that I am and will be to you. Whatever your will is for me, please give me the strength and willingness to bear it and rejoice in you. Thank you so much Jesus. I thank you Jesus for becoming my Lord and Personal Savior. I thank you Jesus you have heard my prayer and have answered me. I thank you that I am your child Oh God. I thank you for becoming my only Way to Eternal Life. In Your Name I Pray Jesus! Amen!

Friend, if you have prayed this prayer and meant it in your heart, you are a new creation in Christ and all old things are passed away and everything has become new! You may feel something or may not but don’t base it on feelings but base your new life in Christ on the promises of our Savior who will never leave you nor forsake you! Amen!
