“Powerfully Prayer Provides Evangeline's Emancipation Testimony Today!”

Ramesh C. Reddy

Here is our testimony of how the Lord Jesus delivered our Evangeline as prayers from family, brothers and sisters of Oakland International Fellowship and beyond reached our Lord Jesus Christ!

Evangeline Vajravathi Reddy was born on Friday, May 29, 2015 at 9:46 p.m. weighing 7.5 lbs during an emergency C-section after my precious wife Chandraleela labored for more than 4 hours for a normal delivery but the head of Evangeline would not come out no matter how long she tried.

Even during an emergency C-section, the doctors still had trouble bringing her out of the womb because of the way her head was turned sideways and the umbilical cord was tied twice around her neck with a knot. When she was finally taken out of the womb, we did not hear her cry at all which scared both of us until a tiny cry was heard.

Then we were told by a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) specialist, that Evangeline was not breathing well on her own and needed to be sent to the NICU immediately. We were also told that she swallowed a lot of meconium and needed her lungs to be examined. We found out that her APGAR score was an 1 out of 10 when she was born.

Our heart dropped when we heard Evangeline’s condition and the words NICU. We could not even hold our child when she was born. Evangeline was covered in all kinds of tubes from a breathing tube, to an Intravenous tube for medication, to a feeding tube. The sight was so scary to see. We could not see our precious daughter until 1:00 a.m. the next day.

I prayed and prayed Psalm 139, Psalm 91, and segments of Mark 5 as Evangeline stayed in the NICU. The words of Jesus: ‘Don’t be afraid, just believe’ resonated in me which I believed.

Prayers from family and friends reached the Lord Jesus Christ and He intervened in His timing. We believe the Lord Jesus breathed life into her so she could breathe on her own. Within 12 hrs, Evangeline was able to breathe on her own without a breathing tube. She was also able to drink mother’s milk and formula on her own.  They told us that she could also go home with us on Monday if her 4 pm tests came back well.

Sadly, we were told by the NICU specialist that her white blood cell count was high and she was fighting an infection for which they wanted to keep her in the NICU for a week administering antibiotics until Friday.

Where did we turn to again?

We turned to our Lord Jesus Christ and His Word asking brothers and sisters in Christ to pray for our family. In my mind after prayer using God’s Word, I felt the Lord Jesus healed our daughter completely of the infection. We wanted the doctors to administer the test again believing she was healed but they said they cannot do it until Friday after the antibiotic is used.

It was a tiring time because my precious wife Chandraleela was being discharged on Monday but our Evangeline still had to stay in the NICU. By the Lord’s grace and mercy, they told us Evangeline could be moved out of the NICU on Monday if rooms were available and be transferred to the pediatric unit where we could stay with our daughter 24-7 until she was discharged. Finally, on Tuesday a room was available unexpectedly and we were able to be with our daughter in the pediatric unit until Friday, June 05, 2015.

Our precious 2 year  9 month 2 week old daughter Esther who loves the Lord Jesus very much would sing to Evangeline and would love her so much giving her kisses and kisses being so excited to be a big sister for her little sister.

Finally, by the Lord’s grace the day came for Evangeline to be discharged from the hospital.  When the doctor came to speak to us, he told us to forget that Evangeline was in the NICU and Pediatric Unit but think that she was discharged the same day she was born. His point to us was that she is doing so well. All the tests they gave her came out well. Thank you Jesus!

It is through all of your prayers that reached our Lord Jesus Christ that we were able to take Evangeline home with us on Friday. My mommy has been there for us throughout the pregnancy and for the first two weeks since Evangeline came home. She made sure Chandra and I had yummy Indian home cooked dinners. However the challenge began when my mom had to go out of the country for my little brother’s ceremony. Yet, the Lord Jesus looked after us and provided help through the church.

As my loving wife Chandra who needed atleast 6 weeks to recover from a C-section was recovering,  I tried my best to take care of all three of them. It is through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the wonderful brothers and sisters in Christ of Oakland International Fellowship, we were delivered yummy Indian food that tasted so good to eat and non-Indian food so Chandra did not have to cook and I could focus on taking care of them. Their loving service to our family has been such a blessing.

I was so scared for the well-being of  Chandra since she not only labored as if she was giving normal birth until the last minute but then had to go through the C-section. Lord delivered my Chandra too as -she looked way-more healthier than her first pregnancy.   Thank you Jesus!!!

Praise Report:
1. I praise the Lord Jesus, my precious wife Chandraleela looked healthier this time even after laboring almost 4 hrs and then going through a
C-section compared to her last pregnancy.

2. I praise the Lord Jesus, Evangeline was able to breathe on her own in less than 12 hrs because He breathed life into her.

3. I praise the Lord Jesus, we had the best staff from Western Pennsylvania Hospital (WPH) looking after both of them especially
Dr. Andrea Skomo and Nurse Sandy Stanley (who remembered me from the days I was her IVCF Staff worker, who shared her testimony with my wife about her journey of faith experience in Christ because I lived out my faith for her and other students)

4. I praise the Lord Jesus, Evangeline was moved to a private room in the pediatric unit so Chandra and I could stay there overnight too.

5. I praise the Lord Jesus for the nurses who provided us with everything for it to be a home away from home place while Evangeline was under observation.

6. I praise the Lord Jesus most of all for my mommy being there to take care of our daughter Esther and make homemade Indian food for Chandra and me to eat while she recuperated, for
Heather & Pastor Hugo and Pastor Mike & Jeannie who were so helpful with rides no matter what the time. Thank you Jesus!

7. Finally, I want to praise the Lord Jesus for the families of Pastor Hugo & Heather, Pastor Mike & Jeannie,
Calvin & Elise, David & Yvonne, Pastor Ridge & Connie, Karis & Daniel, Edwin & Marie, Mike & Rachel and Thomas & Julia who provided our family so much from diapers to home cooked Indian food or non-Indian food so Chandra did not have to be in the kitchen but recuperate while I took care of Evangeline and Esther.

Now our precious Evangeline is 1 month 2 weeks, 2 days old . We were praying for a Christian name for her. When my wife mentioned the name Evangeline, I did research into the name and fell in love with the name after finding out what it means. It means bearer of Good News or messenger of Good News. Evangeline has been the bearer of Good News and messenger of Good News through how the Lord Jesus has used her situation to share His love with all to whom we talk about Evangeline.

In her most recent checkup, our doctor told us that she is doing really well and we need to continue what we have been doing. What we have been doing starts with PRAYER & GOD’S WORD given to Evangeline every day from A – Z.

Every night I try to tell her how the Lord Jesus delivered her and brought her home to us. We want to use our lives to share the love of Christ with those the Lord Jesus places in our pathway. We are glad through this trial, we have been able to see the power of the Risen Lord in our lives and the love of His people encompassing our lives. Thank you Jesus! Thank you to my family and to Oakland International Fellowship, His church!

“I want you to trust in me in your times of trouble says the Lord so I can rescue you and you can give me the glory!” (Psalm 50:15, TLB)

If you have never called upon the Name of the Lord, may you call upon the Name of the Lord Jesus!

For if you tell others with your own mouth that Jesus Christ is your Lord and believe in your own heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For it is by believing in his heart that a man becomes right with God; and with his mouth he tells others of his faith, confirming his salvation.  For the Scriptures tell us that no one who believes in Christ will ever be disappointed.  Jew and Gentile are the same in this respect: they all have the same Lord who generously gives his riches to all those who ask him for them.  Anyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved.  But how shall they ask him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?  And how will anyone go and tell them unless someone sends him? That is what the Scriptures are talking about when they say, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the Gospel of peace with God and bring glad tidings of good things.” In other words, how welcome are those who come preaching God’s Good News! (Romans 10:9-15, TLB)

To celebrate the Lord’s love in the life of Evangeline, Esther, Chandra, and me through the help of my loving mommy and the families of Oakland International Fellowship, we have created a musical slideshow of Evangeline's first month with family and friends.
