Homosexuals do not need a special bill!

Liberal Democrats have
been trying to pass a ‘Hate Crimes’ bill in Congress that would give
homosexuals special protected status. What that could mean is quoting
Scripture regarding homosexuality could very well be considered hate
speech if the bill were to pass.
No matter what, this bill
cannot be passed through Congress. Homosexuals do not need any more
protected status than heterosexual beings have. Hate crimes are against
the law and they should be but we already have laws against what is a
hate crime. A special law need not be created just for the sake of
homosexuals. To give credence to this law puts homosexuals above
heterosexual beings.
They are not above
heterosexual beings and the passing of this bill could affect the
freedom of speech of individuals who genuinely quote Scripture to help
their fellow beings from turning from what is destructive.
Many would want you to
believe that the homosexuals fight is similar to the civil rights
movement but it is not even close. There are those homosexuals who have
changed their lifestyle and become heterosexual. But, we have never seen
someone able to change their race.
There is a Scripture that
states, “Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters
nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves
nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit
the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were
washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord
Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. (1 Corinthians 6:9-11, NIV)
The key phrase is ‘And
that is what some of you were’. This tells us that people can be changed
including homosexuals and it is a lifestyle that is chosen just like
people choose to be sexually immoral, idolaters, adulterers, male
prostitutes, homosexuals, drunkards, etc.
It is interesting that
this verse does not mention race. It is not a sin to be of a particular
race and people cannot change their race no matter how much they try.
Yes, people have used cream and all kinds of makeup to look different
than they are but they cannot change their race. To compare
homosexuality with race and what people of a particular race went
through is wrong.
To use a particular
example, it is an insult to African Americans and what they fought for
to include the plight of homosexuals in the civil rights movement. Don’t
misunderstand me and think I am saying that homosexuals should not be
protected if they don’t change their lifestyle. What I am saying is that
they don’t need special protection offered. Let the current hate crimes
bill we have be used for everyone.
To say homosexuality is
wrong is not a crime and should not be considered hate speech. If
anything it is love speech because God loves us so much that He wants
the best for humanity. The Lord has not singled out homosexuals but they
are included in the same verse with other wrongdoers. Yet, we see the
Lord’s love and what happens to people as they seek the Lord.
I am in no way saying
that struggling against a particular vice is sin but acting on it is.
Let us not pass this bill and make homosexuals think they are above
God’s law and can get special status.
