Pistons drown the Lakers in Game 1

There is a reason
championships are not just offered on a silver platter no matter how
favored or talented a team is. There is always a possibility of pulling
of an upset. We need look no further than this past weekend when Stormy
Jones lost in the Belmont Stakes.
Two days later, the Los
Angeles Lakers who were heavily favored to win at home lost to the
underdog Detroit Pistons in Game 1 of the NBA finals telecast on ABC.
The score was not even close at the end as Pistons took Game 1 with a
final score of 87-75.
Lakers top scorers Shaq
and Kobe could not stop them too! When Payton and Malone were supposed
to make the Lakers an unstoppable team, the Pistons had other plans for
them.
The prospect of underdog
teams beating favored teams is what makes sports exciting to watch. With
an away victory, Pistons have now clinched home-field advantage through
the rest of the finals and have a chance to pull of one of the big
upsets this year if they can win the NBA championship. We will have to
wait and see if their Game 1 victory was real or not and if their
offense and defense will continue to be potent against the Lakers.
