“Word Of Redeemer Delivers!" (W.O.R.D)Ramesh C. Reddy Publisher Editors note: This is part of the devotional I had with the Lord this morning of June 18, 05 that I wanted to share with you all! Quiet Times (Psalm 18, Proverbs 18, and Mark 4:26-29) “He also said, "This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. All by itself the soil produces grain—first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head. As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come." (Mark 4:26-29, NIV) Observations: I asked myself what are the tangible things I can see from this passage. Man, Seed, Ground, Night, Day, Soil, Grain, Stalk, Head, and Kernel Interpretations: I asked myself what is the function of man here. A man scatters seed on the ground. I asked myself what does it means that a man scatters seed on the ground. Earlier when Jesus explained the ‘Parable of the Sower’ to those who asked Him, He told them that the ‘seed’ represents the Word of God. Now, Jesus is telling them that man scatters the Word of God on the ground. A synonym for scatter is spread so Jesus is telling them that man spreads the Word of God on the ground. I asked myself what does Jesus say happens when man spreads the Word of God on the ground. “Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how.” During the night when man sleeps, the Word of God sprouts and grows though he does not know how. During the day, when man gets up, the Word of God sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. That is so amazing and cool to know! I asked myself what is the function of the soil. “All by itself the soil produces grain—first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head.” I learned because the Word of God is spread, the soil produces grain-which I believe represents the children of God. This passage also shows the process of Christian maturity as the Word of God works in the people’s lives when the Word is spread in their lives. First, there is the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head. I asked myself why it is significant three things are mentioned: the stalk, the head, and the full kernel in the head. I believe as the Word of God enters their lives, the stalk represents everyone starting out as baby Christians. I believe as the Word of God continues in their lives, the head represents them become growing Christians. I believe as the Word of God continues to take root in their lives, the full kernel in the head represents mature Christians. I asked myself what happens to the grain. “As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come." I believe this is talking about gathering all the followers of Christ when Jesus comes back representing ‘the harvest has come.’ For that to happen, first the spreading of the Word of God must take place by human beings that the Lord entrusted the Word of God with to the entire world. The result would be the Word of God growing in people’s lives changing them and helping them to become mature Christians. When Jesus comes back and He gathers His own, it will become the Kingdom of God. Implications: I realized the importance of having the Word of God in our lives to make a difference and spreading the Word of God to others as we spend time in the Word. I ask you now dear friends, what do you do with the Word of God? Dear friend, you have an awesome opportunity to spread the Word of God that we have through the Bible. You can stand on the Word of God and let it change people’s lives including your own. The Word of God has power and that is exciting to know. But, we need to take time to spend in the Word and let it work in us. We do not always know how it works in us, but it does and there is power in the Word of God. “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:8-11, NIV) This is the power of the Word of God. You can claim the Word of God in your life and let it work in you and through you! This is exciting to know! I know it has in my life and continues to work! Amen! One of my favorite promises among others I have claimed has been from Psalm 50:15. "I want you to trust in me in your times of trouble, says the Lord, so that I could rescue you and you can give me the glory!" (Psalm 50:15) May you let the Word of God work in you as you spend time with the Lord in His Word! Amen! “Word Of Redeemer Delivers!”(W.O.R.D)/”What do you do with the Word of God?” Prayer:
