Steeler nation took it hard when news about their beloved quarterback Ben
Roethlisberger being injured in a motorcycle accident reached the airwaves.
Fans turned to prayer and it worked as Roethlisberger was released from
Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh, a faith based hospital around 11:45 p.m. on
Wed, June 14.
Pastor Maurice Trent of Cathedral of Hope on Fisher Street was the first to
address fans who were wondering why God allowed the accident to happen to Roethlisberger.
“God does not allow those things to happen. Everyone has free will in life.
Those things happen. My understanding is the lady made an illegal turn and
due to the illegal turn she hit him. It is not something God did”, said
Pastor Trent.

Pastor Trent believed the most important way fans can support Roethlisberger
is praying for him before the Great Physician, Jesus Christ.
“Prayer works. The best thing we can do now is everybody come together and
pray for him”, said Pastor Trent.
Nick Balzer, a believer in Jesus Christ had come to Mercy to give a greeting
card to Roethlisberger. Balzer also believed in the power of prayer and
gathered together fans those waiting to hear news of Roethlisberger’s
condition and led them in prayer while the surgeons operated on
Roethlisberger.
