RECOMMENDATION:
WATCH THE MOVIE WITH CAUTION

PLOT SYNOPSIS:
'Semi-Pro' is about an owner, coach, and player who needs to make the worst ABA team into a winning fourth place team if he wants any hope of his team joining the NBA because only the top four teams would be taken into the NBA. The plot revolves around everything that is done to try to make it a reality.

PLOT REVIEW:
'Semi-Pro' is a well developed plot with couple of feel good scenes that will impress you and make you feel like it was worth watching the movie.

CONTENT REVIEW:
'Semi-Pro' has some bad language and a scene of sexuality. It addresses issues such as sacrifice, friendship, perseverance, motivation, and leadership.

What I liked about the movie: (SPOILER ALERT)

1. I liked the close relationship Jackie Moon had with his mom.

2. I liked how characters in the movie tried to do multiple things in his life well without giving up amidst failure because of friends support.

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." (James 1:2-4, NIV)

3. I liked the friendship that developed between two adversaries.

"If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head."Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." (Romans 12:20-21, NIV)

4. I liked the sacrifice, a teammate made even if he knew the consequences.

"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others." (Philippians 2:3-4, NIV)

5. I liked the emphasis on love.

"Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves." (Romans 12:10, NIV)

6. I liked the amount of encouragement in the movie.

“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” (1 Thessalonians 5:11, NIV)

7. I liked the Word of God being read in the movie.

"Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:8-9, NIV)

What I did not like about the movie: (SPOILER ALERT)

1. I did not like the language used in the movie.

"But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips." (Colossians 3:8, NIV)

2. I did not like the sexual innuendo and a scene of sexuality in the movie.

"Run from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body. Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body." (1 Corinthians 6:18-20, NIV)
