WATCH TRAILER: 'The Eye'

RECOMMENDATION:
WATCH THE MOVIE

PLOT SYNOPSIS:
'The Eye' is about a blind woman named Sydney Wells (played by the beautiful Jessica Alba) who starts seeing things that her loved ones think are hallucinations. The story revolves around her trying to figure out why she is seeing what she is seeing and whose eyes did she get!

PLOT REVIEW:
'The Eye' is one of the most interesting 'Chinese to English' made horror movie plot to come on DVD recently. The plot is very intriguing and suspenseful with an unbelievable ending you will have to watch to believe.

CONTENT REVIEW:
'The Eye' is a movie filled with at least seven scary scenes. It addresses issues such as love, blindness, seeing, believing, contentment, death, and saving.

What I liked about the movie: (Spoiler Alert)

1. When Sydney's sister blames herself for her sister's blindness, Sydney comforts her sister telling her that it was not her fault. It reminded me of what true love is.

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. (1 Corinthians 13:4-8, NIV)

2. When Sydney knows people are going to die, she does all she can to rescue them putting her own life in danger. It reminded me of the verse:

"Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter." (Proverbs 24:11)

3. Sydney is very happy being blind and realizes more torment came when she was seeing than when she became blind. This verse reminded me of being content.

"I rejoice greatly in the Lord that at last you have renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you have been concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it. I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want." (Philippians 4:10-12, NIV)

4. In the movie, we see a lot of scenes that involve fire where people are burning which reminded me of what Hell would be like if people are not rescued. What Sydney did reminded me of how the Lord Jesus rescued us from the fire of hell so Satan cannot have us.

"But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in God's love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life. Be merciful to those who doubt; snatch others from the fire and save them; to others show mercy, mixed with fear—hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh. To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy— to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen" (Jude 1:20-25, NIV)

What I did not like about the movie: (SPOILER ALERT)

1. I did not like seeing spirits from another world about to take those about to die because they looked scary.

QUESTIONS TO PONDER: (SPOILER ALERT)

1. What did you like the most and least about 'The Eye' and why?

2. How do you feel about someone getting a transplant from a wicked person or criminal?

3. Should followers of Christ accept transplants from donors who have been convicted of horrific crimes, why or why not?

4. Do you believe when a person gets a transplant, the other person's life is interwoven within the person who received the transplant? Why or why not?

5. How do you feel about the spirit world and what role do you allow Jesus Christ to have in your life, why or why not?

6. If you could see into the present or past of things that already happened or will happen, would you like to, why or why not?

7. How do you use the eyes the Lord Jesus has blessed you with?
