Editors note: The Pittsburgh Standard does
not adhere to gambling or betting. We present this game to you to have
fun and challenge yourself to know different teams in the NCAA during
the NCAA Tournament. The best way to do that is finding out about the
teams and challenging yourself to predict winners based on the teams and
anticipating upsets can happen. In the process you can win some free
money!

remain standing as the winner.
Find out each day to see
how you have been doing!
RULES:
You can
only participate in this challenge if you are a Pitt student with a
valid Pitt email address. You will have to complete the entire
brackets in two separate submissions.
First Submission:
EAST & SOUTH Region
Second Submission:
MIDWEST & WEST Region
SCORING:
The
tournament is scored by giving 10 points for every correct pick in the
first round for a possible total of 320 points that can be earned and
doubled for each subsequent round.
Round 1:
320 points, 32*10, 32 teams advance
Rounds 2: 320 points, 16*20, 16 teams advance
Sweet 16: 320 points, 8*40, 8 teams advance
Elite 8: 320 points, 4*80, 4 teams advance
Final Four: 320 points, 2*160, 2 teams advance
Championship: 320 points, 1*320, 1 team wins
Points are
also based on a team's ranking. Whatever team you pick to win, you will
also get their ranking points. For higher points, it is best to pick
lower ranking teams to upset higher ranking teams. However, the downside
is if the team does not win, you do not get any points for that pick.
You have a
possibility of scoring 1920 points + 800 bonus points depending on
the rankings of each team that you picked that advanced. This will
give a total of 2720 total points that could be attained in the
tournament.
PRIZE:
The grand
prize is determined by the points you gained divided by 20. If you
gained the highest possible points of 2720, you would leave with a grand
prize of $136.00 if you are the winner.
PICK THE BRACKETS:
It is best to open two browsers: one to do EAST - SOUTH Region and another to do
MIDWEST-WEST Region unless you want to backtrack
after you get the cgiemail message for your records!
