SCRIPTURE:
^“I tell you the truth, all the sins and blasphemies of men will be forgiven them. But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of an eternal sin." He said this because they were saying, "He has an evil spirit." (Mark 3:28-30, NIV)

Observations:
I looked for words or phrases that were repeated!

I looked for any connections!
Jesus speaking on blasphemy was connected to the teachers of the law stating that He had an evil spirit in Him.

Interpretations:
I asked myself why is that significant?
To state that Jesus had an evil spirit in Him which the teachers of the law did, Jesus was letting them know that they were blaspheming against the Holy Spirit for that remark. Jesus wanted to also let them know it is an eternal sin what they were doing: attributing Jesus' miracles to an evil spirit instead of to the Holy Spirit.

Implications:
This passage talks about the unpardonable sin in the context of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit which is attributing an evil spirit to the Holy Spirit. Jesus is letting them know that is the worst kind of sin they could do. I need to remember that!

I ask you now dear friend, what is your view of Jesus?
Dear friend, the teachers of the law had such an evil view of Jesus. They went so far as to say that He had an evil spirit in Him in front of His disciples and the crowds. But that was not all, they were attributing the good that Jesus was doing to the power of Satan! This is the worst kind of sin they can be guilty of because they were blaspheming against the Holy Spirit by making that accusation. I do not know what kind of view you have of Jesus but I want you to know that the teachers of the laws view of Jesus was way out there and so evil.

Do not let people who do not believe in Jesus and what Jesus stands for to influence you in having a negative view of Jesus. That is what the teachers of the law were trying to do. They failed. More than anything attributing evil to the Holy Spirit is the worst kind of sin we can commit.

I believe when we come to Jesus, we cannot commit the unpardonable sin because we have the Holy Spirit living in us and residing in us. It is the Holy Spirit that guides and leads us. We are forgiven by the blood of Jesus. When God looks at us, He sees Christ in us and we have access to Heaven.

I believe it is those who attribute Jesus’ powers to Satan that are in danger of that eternal sin because in essence they are saying that Jesus has Satan in him and is working through Satan. Just thinking about that gives me shivers. That is what the teachers of the law accused Jesus of!

Whatever your view of Jesus, do not let that be your view of Jesus. Jesus loves you so much that Jesus died on the cross for you. If you were the only One, Jesus would have still died for you. Jesus came back to life to give you help, hope, and healing.

May you know the love of Jesus in your life and not fear the unpardonable sin if you know Jesus as your Lord and Personal Savior!

If you do not know Jesus as your Lord and Personal Savior, you can come to know Jesus as your Lord and Personal Savior for He accepts you. Now is the time of Salvation. I do not believe unpardonable sins happen in the mind and the thoughts. This type of sin has to be expressed in words directly to someone else just like the teachers of the law did.

This is not to say that those who have cursed Jesus and spoken against Jesus have committed the unpardonable sin. If that were the case, we would not have the apostle Paul. Yet, no matter what Saul of Tarsus did, Jesus appeared to him and forgave him. Saul took on a new name Paul and began ministry serving the Lord Jesus. You can to friend!

Prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus, this is a scary passage because for the first time in this chapter I read about a sin that cannot be forgiven but has eternal consequences. Oh Lord, that can scare people into thinking they might have committed it. Lord those that are afraid they might have committed it, please let them know in your love that they have not because you put it upon my heart once that if we are worried about not being forgiven then we have not committed it. The teachers of the law were so out there that they did not even worry about what they were saying and doing. It did not matter to them that they attributed evil to you. There are still those in this world that do the same. That is scary Lord. Help us please not to be paralyzed regarding blasphemy but to hold on to you for when we hold on to you, we are holding on to hope. Thank you Lord that we cannot commit blasphemy in our minds or thoughts because that is not what you addressed. Instead, you addressed what the teachers of the law spoke directly. Help those who are troubled and confused about this passage. Show them your love and your security. Thank you so much Jesus! Jesus I also thank you that it is not possible for your followers to commit the unpardonable sin. For non-Christians who do not know you, it is possible Lord but help us to reach them before they commit it. You Oh Lord died for the world to save it. You would not have done that if it was not possible to grant people in this world Salvation when they turn their lives over to you. Thank you Jesus your death made it possible because of your cleansing precious Blood. Help us Oh Lord for the honor and glory of your Name! Protect us from evil and help us to live for you. We are so sorry for our sin and ask you for your help. Please be our Lord and Personal Savior and fill us with the Holy Spirit. Thank you so much Jesus you are our Lord and Personal Savior! Thank you Jesus you have heard my prayer and answered me! In Your Name I Pray Jesus! Amen!

Dear Jesus, thank you for healing the paralytic after forgiving his sins. You set him free to go home. I want to be free. I don’t know everything about you. I still have a lot of questions. What I do know is that you died on the cross for my sins. When it comes to sin, I am a paralytic Oh Lord. I am infected with this deadly disease known as sin. I am not perfect but a sinner who needs your cleansing blood to clean me of my sin everyday. I confess to you my sin and repent of my sin. I know you have forgiven me when you died on the cross. I want to accept that forgiveness. Thank you for shedding your cleansing precious blood for me. You were nailed to the cross because of me. It is like I actually held the hammer and pounded the nails so I could be free. Thank you for willingly dying for me Jesus. Thank you for taking the shame and pain for me. Thank you for doing that to set me free. I come to the cross and ask you for your healing in my life. Thank you for the power of your Blood to redeem humanity. Thank you for coming back to life to save us and give us Eternal Life as we yield to you. Your blood can heal us where we are. I love you Jesus. Even with my questions, I come to you now and accept you into my heart. Please Jesus come into my heart and make my heart your home. Give me a transfusion of change. Live in me Jesus and I will live for you and serve you the rest of the days of my life. I thank you Jesus for coming into my heart and making my heart your home. Thank you for living in me Jesus. I acknowledge you now as my Lord and Personal Savior. Please be the Lord and Savior of my life. Thank you for being my Lord and Personal Savior Jesus and because of what you have done for me when God looks at me, He now sees me covered in your blood and His judgment passes over me. Thank you that you have heard my prayer and answered me. Thank you for being with me Lord. Please fill me with your Holy Spirit. Thank you Jesus I now belong to you and never need to be alone! You will always be with me and have given me Salvation. In Your Name I Pray Jesus! Amen!

Friend, if you have prayed this prayer and meant it in your heart, you are a new creation in Christ and all old things are passed away and everything has become new! You may feel something or may not but don’t base it on feelings but base your new life in Christ on the promises of our Savior who will never leave you nor forsake you! Amen!

No matter what you feel in your heart, know that Jesus has come in and resides with you! You are not alone! To make your walk strong with the Lord, spend time in prayer talking to Him as you would to a friend. You don’t need special words to talk to the Lord. Spend time in His Word reading Psalms and turning them into prayer. Next allow God to heal you and speak to you through the Gospel of John or Gospel of Mark before moving on to other Books of the Bible! Slowly, let the Lord show you to which Scriptures He wants you to go to next. It is also important to be part of a body of believers to help you grow in the faith. Find a Bible believing church that preaches the Word of God from Genesis to Revelation proclaiming Jesus Christ our crucified and risen Lord who brings us hope, healing, and help! But beware of churches who do believe in the Word of God completely but there is no freedom in Christ but legalism involved.

As a student, it is not too late to join a fellowship on campus too this blessed New Year of 2008! May the Lord's presence and peace fill you with His love now and forever! Amen!
