WATCH THE MOVIE ONCE

WHAT I  LIKED ABOUT THE MOVIE:

SPOILER ALERT I:
I liked seeing a loving family and loving friends help each other out but most of all seeing an enemy being helped out when the opportunity arose.

"A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity." (Proverbs 17:17, NIV)

"If your enemies are hungry, give them food to eat. If they are thirsty, give them water to drink.You will heap burning coals of shame on their heads, and the Lord will reward you." (Proverbs 25:21-22, NIV)

SPOILER ALERT II:
I liked the sacrifices the mall cop made for those in distress.

"Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too." (Philippians 2:3-4, NIV)

SPOILER ALERT III:
I liked how a daughter honored her dad and told him something like it's not how a person looks like on the outside that should matter but how they look on the inside. She reminded him, 'When they know the real you, all bets are off'

"But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." (1 Samuel 16:7, NIV)

SPOILER ALERT IV:
I liked the attitude the mall cop had towards women.

I liked the movie emphasize what happens to proud people.

"Pride goes before destruction, and haughtiness before a fall." (Proverbs 16:18, NIV)

"All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time." (1 Peter 5:5a-6, NIV)

WHAT I DID NOT LIKE ABOUT THE MOVIE:

SPOILER ALERT VI:
I did not like the drinking that was shown in the movie and the aftermath of that drinking.

"Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has strife? Who has complaints?  Who has needless bruises? Who has bloodshot eyes? Those who linger over wine, who go to sample bowls of mixed wine. Do not gaze at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup, when it goes down smoothly! In the end it bites like a snake and poisons like a viper.  Your eyes will see strange sights and your mind imagine confusing things.  You will be like one sleeping on the high seas, lying on top of the rigging. "They hit me," you will say, "but I'm not hurt! They beat me, but I don't feel it! When will I wake up so I can find another drink?" (Proverbs 23:29-35, NIV)

SPOILER ALERT VII:
I did not like the greed and betrayal that was shown in the movie and the aftermath of that greed and betrayal.

"For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs." (1 Timothy 6:10, NIV)

QUESTIONS TO PONDER:

1.  How far would you go to help out a family member or friend, why or why not? How about an enemy, why or why not? What does the Bible have to say?

2. What kind of sacrifices do you make and what kind of sacrifices is the Lord pleased with?

3. How much emphasis do you place on outward beauty of a person than the inward beauty, why or why not? What does the movie teach us about this but especially what does the Bible have to say?

4. What is your attitude towards women, why or why not? What does the Bible have to say?

5. How do you feel about your accomplishments in life compared to someone else and what do you do about it? What does the Bible have to say about this?

6. What is your feeling regarding drinking, why or why not? What does the Bible have to say?

7. Have you ever felt betrayed by the greed of a person? How did it make you feel? What does the Bible have to say about greed?

8.  What scene or words in the movie stuck out in your mind and why?

9.  What character in the movie do you identify yourself with and why?

10. What do we learn about the love between a child and her father?

11. How does what the earthly father did compare with what God of the Bible did for us?.

12. If it were in your power to rescue someone but you would have to use violence, will you do it, why or why not?
