WATCH TRAILER: Underworld: Rise of the Lycans

WATCH THE MOVIE WITH CAUTION

WHAT I  LIKED ABOUT THE MOVIE:

SPOILER ALERT I:
I liked how a Lycan raised by vampires feels sorry for werewolves/humans that are subject to harsh treatment and slavery and intervenes when a slave is being beaten brutally. 

It reminded me of the story of the Israelites as slaves in Egypt. When one of the slaves was being beaten even though Moses was raised as a prince, he intervened.

^"And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigour: And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in morter, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein they made them serve, was with rigour." (Exodus 1:3-4, KJV)

"And it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: and he spied an Egyptian smiting an Hebrew, one of his brethren. And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he slew the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand." (Exodus 2:11-12, KJV)

"The LORD said, "I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey—the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. And now the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them. So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt." (Exodus 3:7-10, NIV)

SPOILER ALERT II:

Vampires constantly need to drink blood to survive and sustain life forever and have immortality as they eat the flesh of humans.

I was reminded how we need the BLOOD OF CHRIST to cover over our sins daily so we can survive forever in ETERNITY. It is because of the PRECIOUS BLOOD OF CHRIST, that we have been given ETERNAL LIFE forever whenever we partake of His BLOOD so we are rescued from the bondage of sin and death.

"Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him. Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your forefathers ate manna and died, but he who feeds on this bread will live forever." He said this while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum." (John 6:53-59, NIV)

"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him!" (Romans 5:8-9, NIV)

SPOILER ALERT III:

The vampires skin dissolves and they are burned when exposed to the light because they cannot stay in the light due to their darkness. They are so consumed by darkness that they cannot withstand light.

This reminded me of how Jesus taught that darkness cannot withstand the Light.

^"This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. (John 3:19-20, NIV)

SPOILER ALERT IV:

In this movie, we see the daughter betray the father and turn against him because of his evil deeds.

This reminded me of the last days when Jesus talked about separation between families for the sake of righteousness.

"Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn " 'a man against his father,  a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law - a man's enemies will be the members of his own household.' "Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it." (Matthew 10:34-39, NIV)

QUESTIONS TO PONDER:

1. What scene or words in the movie stuck out in your mind and why?

2.  What character in the movie do you identify yourself with and why?

3. What do we learn about the love between a child and her father?

4. What was the result of the disobedience of the child against the father?

5. How does what the earthly father did compare with what God of the Bible did for us?. When would you oppose your father or mother, why or why not?

6. If it were in your power to rescue slaves but you would have to use violence, will you do it, why or why not?

7. What can you take away from this movie?
