TRAILER FOR IRON MAN
2:
FIRST IMPRESSIONS: I am glad that I did not have
to pay money to watch Iron Man 2 during the advanced screening on Tue,
May 04, 2010. It started out really well but then the storyline just
dragged without much action. I went to see lots of action but what I got
was a chopped storyline trying to address multiple characters as opposed
to Iron Man I. Iron Man does not even battle the bad guys for too
long until the end. IT IS NOT WORTH WATCHING if you want lots of action
and a good storyline. But, if you are looking for biblical principles
that come out of the movie, it is recommended to watch.
PLOT SYNOPSIS:
In ‘Iron Man 2’, a villain emerges utilizing Stark Industries
Technology and Iron Man has to stop him.
PLOT REVIEW: Iron Man 2 has a chopped up storyline that drags without much
action.
CONTENT REVIEW: “Iron Man 2” addresses
issues of dangers of drinking, handling death, loyalty, family,
greed, friendships, competition, and loving relationships.
RECOMMENDATION: Not worth watching if you
are looking for lots action and a good story line unless you are
looking for biblical principles to apply in your life.
What I liked about the movie: SPOILER ALERT
Spoiler Alert I:
I liked how the movie addressed about
leaving a legacy behind and what people will remember you for. It
emphasized making a difference in the world.
This reminded me of
" A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is
better than silver or gold." (Proverbs 22:1, NIV)
Spoiler Alert II: I liked how the movie focused on the goal of achieving world
peace.
This reminded me of "He has showed you, O man, what is
good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to
love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." (Micah 6:8, NIV)
Spoiler Alert III:
I liked how the movie emphasized team work instead of going it
alone.
This reminded me of
"Moses' father-in-law replied, "What you are
doing is not good. You and these people who come to you will
only wear yourselves out. The work is too heavy for you; you cannot
handle it alone. But select capable men from all the people—men who
fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain—and appoint them
as officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens. Have them
serve as judges for the people at all times, but have them bring
every difficult case to you; the simple cases they can decide
themselves. That will make your load lighter, because they will
share it with you. If you do this and God so commands, you
will be able to stand the strain, and all these people will go home
satisfied." (Exodus 18:17-18, 21-23, NIV)
Spoiler Alert IV:
I liked how the movie emphasized the dangers of drinking.
This reminded me of
"Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has strife? Who has complaints?
Who has needless bruises? Who has bloodshot eyes? Those who
linger over wine, who go to sample bowls of mixed wine.
Do not gaze at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the
cup, when it goes down smoothly! In the end it
bites like a snake and poisons like a viper. Your eyes will
see strange sights and your mind imagine confusing things. You will
be like one sleeping on the high seas, lying on top of the rigging.
"They hit me," you will say, "but I'm not hurt! They beat me, but I
don't feel it! When will I wake up so I can find another drink?"
(Proverbs 23:30-35, NIV)
Spoiler Alert V:
I liked how the movie put an emphasis on dealing with death.
This reminded me of "Just
as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so
Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and
he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring
salvation to those who are waiting for him." (Hebrews 9:27-28, NIV)
Spoiler Alert VI:
I liked how the movie emphasized loyalty to
a certain degree.
This made me write about
"Yes, and I ask you, loyal yokefellow, help
these women who have contended at my side in the cause of the
gospel, along with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, whose
names are in the book of life." (Philippians 4:3, NIV)
Spoiler Alert VII:
I liked how the movie put an emphasis on
family and carrying the name along.
This made reminded me of
"I will surely bless you and make your
descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on
the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of
their enemies, and through your offspring all nations on earth
will be blessed, because you have obeyed me." (Genesis 22:16-18, NIV)
Spoiler Alert VIII:
I liked the emphasis of the movie on true
friendship and love.
This reminded me of
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not
envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not
self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of
wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.Love never fails." (1 Corinthians 13:4-8, NIV)
Spoiler Alert IX: I liked how the movie showed what could happen when greed
takes over.
This reminded me of
" For the
love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for
money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many
griefs." (1 Timothy 6:10, NIV)
Spoiler Alert X:
I liked how the movie showed relationships flourishing w/o
emphasizing sexual intercourse.
This reminded me of
"Though
one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three
strands is not quickly broken." (Ecclesiastes 4:12, NIV)
Spoiler Alert XI: I liked how the movie emphasized the dangers of having a
prideful, arrogant attitude.
This reminded me of,
"Humble yourselves before the
Lord, and he will lift you up." (James 4:10, NIV)
What I did not like about the movie:
I did not like a chopped storyline that
dragged and the quote: "If you can make God bleed, people would
seize to believe in Him"
How wrong can they be?
God did bleed and billions in the world
came to Him and millions are coming to Him each day!
"He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.
For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth,
visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or
authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is
before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is
the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the
firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have
the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in
him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether
things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his
blood, shed on the cross. Once you were alienated from God and were
enemies in your minds because of your
evil behavior. But now he has reconciled you by Christ's physical
body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish
and free from accusation— if you continue in your faith, established
and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel. This is
the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every
creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant."
(Colossians 1:15-23, NIV)
