“What Does Your Work Show About Your Thoughts?”

Editors Note: This devotional was originally sent through email on  Wed, 02 June 1999 17:53:39 -0500 (EST) to InterVarsity Christian Fellowship (IVCF) students and others who wanted to receive daily devotionals at the University of Pittsburgh while I was serving at IVCF! It is being published for the first time on Pittsburgh Standard today with any revisions ITALICIZED.

SCRIPTURE:

"How great are your works, O Lord, how profound your thoughts!" (Psalm 92:5)

When you think about it, the works of the Lord are magnificent. His works are amazing! Just taking Anatomy of Physiology will show you how complex and wonderfully you were made! Even without taking that course knowing how your body functions with all its gadgets will show you the magnificent work of the Lord. His work goes beyond creating us in His image. Psalm 139 is a beautiful praise regarding the work of the Lord when it comes to our being.

The greatest work of the Lord was giving Himself for you. Yes, when we were dead in our sins and trespasses, Christ became our sacrificial Lamb and took upon Himself all of our sins. He did it for you!

I do not know each of your past. Maybe your past has been marred and scarred by hurts, brokenness, abuse, sins, etc that have made you feel really bad and damaged. I want you to know that you can be delivered and the Lord can heal your wounds. Memories may stay but He will be beside you leading and guding you!

Christ can give you a new beginning and a new start. Oh yes, He can! When Christ comes into our lives, He wipes our slate clean. If you invited Christ to be part of your life, He will be part of your life. He won't leave you ever even though humans have a tendency to leave for different reasons.

You are always in His thoughts. His thoughts are so profound. He is thinking about you. Imagine the Lord in his busyness has time to think about you and keep you in His thoughts! Now that's so cool and awesome!!  Jesus loves you so much and He is always thinking about you and watching everything that concerns you, so leave to Him all your worries, cares, and needs!

Won't you do that?

He wants to have them all and wants you to rest in Him as you focus upon Him! Amen!

Cast all your anxieties upon Him for He careth for you! (1 Peter 5:7)

Claim the promise in Isa 43:1-6!

Prayer:  Dear Lord Jesus, your works are so magnificent and when I think about the works of your hands, it is too awesome Lord. And Lord, you do not stop there but you even remember me in your thoughts. An entire Psalm 139 shows your love for me. Oh Lord thank you so much. Thank you for dying for our sins and coming back to life to save us. We come to you now. Lord forgive us our sins and cleanse us Oh Lord. You know all the yucky things we may have done that makes us feel bad and also dishonors you. We are so sorry Lord. We ask you to wipe our slates clean and give us a new beginning with you being the center of our lives. Thank you so much Jesus!  Also, I pray right now Lord for the one who is hurting, for the one who is confused. Oh Lord I pray that you would pour out your love upon their life and that your Spirit will dwell in them and give them a new beginning. My prayer is that they will turn to you and be comforted. Lord, please place people in their lives that can be an encouragement to them! Thank you so much Lord Jesus. Thank you for hearing us and answering us. In Your Name We Pray Jesus! Amen!

If you want to give your life to the Lord and make Him Lord of your life, please don't wait. You can ask Him into your life right now. A Christians' road in life is not easy nor peachy but it is worth it. Belonging to the One who created you and loves you with unconditional love is the one you need to belong too. No matter what you have done or where you have been, the Lord reaches out to you with His loving arms of love. If you have been a Christian and feel like you have gone away from the Lord, you can come back to Him and rededicate your life to Him. He will take you in and love you with unconditional love. Do not let guilt stop you from coming to the Lord. He loves you so much and cares for you! Come, Come to the Lord!

Prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus, I do not know everything I need to know about you. But, I heard that you love me so much and you are the Light. You said if I come to you, I will not stay in darkness. I come to you Lord as I am with all my baggage. I ask you to take it all from me and give me a new beginning.  I know all the sins in my life have affected me and I need you now. I am willing to give my life to you and ask you for forgiveness. Please forgive me of my sins and come into my heart. Please make my heart your home. Live in me Jesus and I choose to live for you and serve you the rest of the days of my life. There are certain habitual sins in my life that you alone can help me overcome and I rely upon you. Thank you Jesus. I thank you that you want to be my Lord and Personal Savior. Please be in control of my life. I thank you when you forgive me, you give me a new clean slate and I can have a new beginning.  I confess you as my Lord and Personal Savior and believe in my heart that you died for me and rose again to give me eternal life that I can one day spend eternity with you forever. Thank you Jesus! Thank you, you have heard my prayer and answered me. I belong to you and you will take care of me. Thank you Jesus! In Your Name I Pray Jesus! Amen!

You may have felt something, you may have not, but the important thing to know is that Jesus Christ is in your life! Don't just go by feelings.
