Interpretations:
I asked myself the significance of
'And my'?
What stuck out in my mind is how the Apostle Paul had a sense of ownership when
he used ‘my’. It showed me that he had a relationship that was personal.
I asked myself who is ‘my’ referring to and came up with God. Paul had a
personal relationship with God that he was able to say
‘My God’. It was not
someone else’s God to him but personal.
I asked myself what comes to mind when I hear
God?
What came to my mind is the Creator of heaven and earth who made us
in His image. Paul has a relationship with God and shares that with the
Philippians. He does not end it here but lets the Philippians know what
God can do for them. This is evidenced by point 3.
I asked myself the significance of
'will meet'?
For all the support and aid the Philippians have given to Paul
based on previous devotional F.I.N.A.N.C.E, Paul wants the Philippians to know that it is not
forgotten by God what they have done and that God will personally intervene in their lives by
meeting but meeting what. This is evidenced by point 4.
I asked myself the significance of
'all'?
God is in the business of wholeness and completeness not partial
business. Thank you Jesus! I am reminded of what happened when Jesus healed Peter's
mother-in-law! She got up and prepared a meal for them! It is as if she
was never sick because she was able to get up and prepare a meal for
them! Those who have fever cannot usually get up and do things because
they become weak even after the fever subsides but not her because Jesus
touched her and healed her bringing wholeness and completeness into her
life! This showed me that Jesus was interested in the disciples
as a whole wanting to meet all their needs even as Paul reminded the
Philippians that Jesus cared for all their needs.
I asked myself the significance of
'your needs?'
I believe Paul is reminding the Philippians that Jesus cares for them as
a whole being, wanting to meet their spiritual, mental, physical, financial,
and emotional needs. Specifically, here the apostle is talking about
financial needs.
I asked myself the significance of
'according to his'?
Paul is reminding the Philippians that
all their needs will be met according to His way. For me that meant the
Philippians should 'leave behind' their own ways and how they like to do
things and let God have His way with them to meet their needs.
I asked myself how God was going to make that
happen?
What came to my mind is
“according to his glorious riches in
Christ Jesus.” The Philippians needs can be met too
in His way as Philippians let go of their own methodology and cling to
Christ.
IMPLICATIONS:
I asked myself what are the important implications for my own life?
If I want God to meet all
my needs, I have to leave behind my own ways because God likes to meet
our needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. That means
whatever I have been used to doing if it does not involve Jesus Christ,
it needs to go. What makes me
excited is that Jesus cares for me as a whole person and wants to meet all my needs
according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
For He is my Jehovah Jireh, the Lord my Provider.
When I was pursuing
my sweet Chandraleela,
in the hopes of marrying her, I let her know upfront that I was
doing ministry
on campus and did not make much money because I was using my job as
tent-making and Pittsburgh Standard as a means to ministry to reach
students with the love of Christ. I even revealed to her exactly how
much I made at the time.
She wrote me on February 12, 2008 stating "I always used to do prayer
whomever you [Lord Jesus] will give as life partner to me, he should be
a real Christian, even though he don't have any money. Also, he should
be rich in God's side and interest to do God's service!"
On May 29, 2008 she wrote stating, "For many years onwards, I am praying
to my God whomever He will give to me, I will be ready to accept Him
because God is the one sending him my way, so I do not worry about
whether he is POOR or RICH. Even though, he is POOR, if God's blessings
is always with us means I will be happy with that!"
On July 08, 2008 she wrote stating, 'About qualities of man..., man
should not be money minded'
On July 31, 2008 she wrote stating, 'I am very happy to do service of
God for any kind of people, either they are students also. Through the
youth we can spread God's Word more!'
Today, as I reflected on what my loving wife wrote to me, in our days of
pursuing each other, tears rolled down my face because I was so joyful
that the Lord Jesus gave me Chandra to marry. Thank you Jesus.
Reading those 4 quotes made me see why I wanted Chandra as my wife. Her
love for the Lord is reflected in those quotes and her belief that the
Lord Jesus will provide all our needs according to His riches in glory
in Christ Jesus is reflected in those quotes for me. Thank you Jesus.
I have been
blessed with such a PLUS: prayerful, loving, understanding, and supportive
wife. It has been almost 12 years since Chandra wrote those words. To
this day, she loves if we do ministry as long as the family is
provided for.
From the day I was in 7th grade to now, my
passion to reach souls for Christ through writing and meeting with
people has not dissipated as the Lord allows.
Years ago, I sensed Jesus telling me
that I would be a missionary on campus involved in the lives of students
as the campus will be seen as a country to me. At the time, my student
ID would serve as a passport for me to legally be in the campus-country
and engage the campus in all it's ethnic diversity with the Gospel of
Jesus Christ. My job will serve as a tent-making job
where I would assimilate myself where students were to reach them more
effectively seeing the dorms as small cities to engage, Market Central would be where thousands of students would converge for
meals, etc where I would use opportunities to share the love of Christ
with them, etc. I hope to be on campus as long as Jesus wants me
here.
Amazingly not only did the Lord provide for me financially through
different means but He also took care of me academically and used me
spiritually to reach souls for Him. Even though I
did ministry 40+ hours, I made a 4.0 in all law classes by going full-time that year
which also boosted me to have 4.0 in legal studies. God was providing
for me as I took care of the students on campus for His glory. Even now
the Lord Jesus provides for us financially, relationally, emotionally,
mentally,
and spiritually as I love to reach students with the Gospel of Jesus
Christ. He will continue to meet all our needs according to His riches in glory.
We don't have to
worry but can rest in Him.
When I was with Sodexo
for 22 years using it as a means to serve students with the love of
Christ and hire student employees, I have never lost sight of using
opportunities to share the love of Christ. Now, my wife and I are
excited to do online publishing ministry through PS and the Lord has
been providing in His own each month. I do not have the words to
express how the Lord provides. Doing ministry where we depend on the
financial and prayer support of our partners is not easy because
sometimes we have no idea whether we will get $10 or more per month.
But through it all, the Lord has always made sure, we are provided
for atleast minimally for rent, food, etc. If people go into
ministry to make money, they are in the wrong business. For us
ministry has to be a calling. It has been as I live out
'But life is worth nothing to me unless I use
it to do the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus, the work of telling
others about God's mighty goodness and love!" (Act 20:24, TLB)
I am speechless when I think about how the Lord has provided for us
unexpectedly through family, friends, etc. No matter what we are
going through, we see the promises of Psalm 34 in our lives as the
Lord is close to us. Today, I read and prayed over Psalm 128 and it
was such a blessing and encouragement. Later on, I received an
unexpected surprise in the mail that we were not even expecting.
That showed us how the Lord provides for our needs as we seek Him
and desire to do what we think is the Lord's calling for us. Thank
you Jesus.
The Lord Jesus has provided for all our needs
and continues to provide for all our needs. It has not been an easy road
in marriage when we have accumulated more than $25,000 dollars of
debt. But through prayer and cutting all our credit cards using only
a debit card since 2014, we have reduced our debt to less than 1,300
dollars as of today when I was going through our credit report which
I needed to rent a new place once our lease expires here.
That reminded me how the Lord has been
providing once again. In the Lord's provision, we have not lived
lavishly but have seen Him make sure we always had food, clothing,
and shelter. Thank you Jesus! We depend on the Lord to send the
support we need as we desire to do full time ministry and as I work
in a tent making job to make ends meet until our full support comes.
I ask you now dear friends, what are your
N.E.E.D.S in life?
Dear friend, whatever your needs are, our Lord knows. He knows your
needs and will reach you where you are in His timing as you allow Him to
carry you. He will carry you!
Yes, He will friend! No matter how your situation looks like, take it to
the Lord in prayer. When people think of needs, usually financial
comes to mind but it is not limited to financial. You can share your
spiritual, physical, emotional, relational, and mental needs to the Lord
and He will provide in His timing.
List your needs before the Lord and expect an
answer. Expect the Lord Jesus to intervene and meet you where you
are at. He will friend, I know He will just as He met Paul's needs,
the Philippians needs, the disciples needs, and our needs. Thank you
Jesus! I know time after time He has met our needs. Thank you Jesus. Time after time He has met my wife's
needs and our families. Thank you Jesus!
I learned as we seek the Lord and His Kingdom first,
He will add all the other things to us. He has done that for me in
ministry and outside of ministry. He did that for Paul that Paul could
confidently say that
“And my
God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ
Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19).
Friend, the Lord knows what you need in your life and will intervene
as you seek Him leaving behind your own ways and methodology. I have
seen the Lord do that in my own life time after time. Thank you
Jesus.
More than anything, we all have needs that are
spiritual. Jesus cares for our soul more than anything that Jesus paid
with His life to ransom us from the enemies clutches. That's how much
Jesus loves you! No matter where you have been or what you have done,
you are never out of His love and never out of His reach to meet your
needs and make you whole.
For the Lord to meet your needs in life, it is
time to leave behind things that are not of the Lord and surrender your
life to Him. This does not mean we will get all our wants but we will
get the needs we need His way and in His timing. He waits for you
and loves you so much friend! Praise the Lord. More than anything, we
will have growth in Christ that will help us in every other aspect of
our lives! Praise the Lord!
Paul was confident that God would meet all the needs of the
Philippians according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus. When we
have Jesus in our lives, we can be confident, we have
the same God in our lives who will meet all
our needs His way and for His glory.
No matter what needs you are facing, take it to the Lord in prayer no
matter how big or small, for He is our Jehovah Jireh, our Provider! May
you intimately get to know the Lord in your life now and always knowing

PRAYER:
Dear Jesus, thank you for loving us so
much. Jesus, you know all our needs and I thank you that you do
intervene in our lives as we seek you with our whole heart. Oh Lord, I
pray that we would depend on you completely for our needs. Thank you how
you do provide for us. We turn all our needs to you and depend on you
for the answer. Oh Lord, you know each one’s needs and wants. Please Oh
Lord make it clear to us what we think our needs are and what you see as
our needs are. Thank you for your awesome promise to claim regarding our
needs being met. I trust in you Lord completely with everything. Thank
you for hearing us and answering us. In Your Name I Pray. Thank you
Jesus we can ask you things in your Name! Amen!
You are my all in all. You are my Prince of Peace,
Rock, Savior, and Friend. You are my Holy Father guiding me through to live a
life of righteousness, holy righteousness. Oh God, I need you more than ever. I
need to feel your hands around me holding me tight. I need your love to surround
me so that you can glow in my life. Help me please Jesus. I desire in your
presence. Thank you for guiding me to live a life of righteousness. Oh God you
love me more than ever. You hear my voice when I cry out to you. When I seek
your face, you fill me up. You are my all in all. Thank you Jesus so much for
your help no matter what I face, your grace is available and you take my case.
Thank you for hearing us and answering us. In Your Name I Pray Jesus! AMEN!
(Most of the prayer is from a vineyard song called “All in All”)
May the Lord Jesus guide you in
His love leading you! Amen!
No matter what you feel in your heart,
know that Jesus has come in and resides with you! You are not alone! To
make your walk strong with the Lord, spend time in prayer talking to Him
as you would to a friend. You don’t need special words to talk to the
Lord. Spend time in His Word reading Psalms and turning them into
prayer. Next allow God to heal you and speak to you through the Gospel
of John or Gospel of
Mark before moving on to other Books of the Bible! Slowly, let the Lord
show you to which Scriptures He wants you to go to next. It is also important to be part of a body of believers to
help you grow in the faith. Find a Bible believing church that preaches
the Word of God from Genesis to Revelation proclaiming Jesus Christ our
crucified and risen Lord who brings us hope, healing, and help by His
grace alone!
