"College Republicans visit the William Pitt Union!"
Kevin "Cougar" Klein I made the decision to join the Pitt College Republicans (PCR) a few weeks ago. I wanted to distribute Bush/Cheney campaign material and found a means to do so after contacting PCR President, Aaron DeBruin. We held two tabling events prior to the Presidential election where we distributed hundreds of stickers, signs and buttons. Many students were grateful to see a conservative representation on campus. The words of encouragement and enthusiasm gave me hope and cause to continue in this venture. Post election we had two more tabling events where we distributed victory buttons and Pitt College Republican pins. Once again many students uplifted us with their remarks. My experience with these events was awe inspiring and reminded me of a bible verse which states, “Not to us, O LORD, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness.” (Psalm 115:1, NIV) I have been appointed the Chairperson of the Tabling Event Committee. We are planning to hold more tabling events in the cafeteria area of the William Pitt Union. We are having a fund raiser to create a budget for celebrity guest speaker events for the Spring term. To that end, we are raffling of a “Big Ben” Steelers’ Jersey! Tickets are only a dollar. Stop by our table during lunch time on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays to get your ticket. We are comprised of moderate and more conservative members. Several students have spoken to me about the abundance of leftwing propaganda on campus. They stated that these tendencies exist ranging from student to professor and from newspaper to newsletter. Our group thrives in this atmosphere of tension. We are an alternative to the status quo at the University of Pittsburgh. Many affirm that the Pitt College Republicans are, The Best Party on Campus! Come check us out!
