Ramesh C. Reddy
Analysis of Student Government Board 2004 Election Results: Incumbent President-elect Brian Kelly won the SGB presidency by 57% of the student body vote against challenger and current board member Todd Brandon Morris who received 43% of the student body vote! Kelly won every polling booth results taking this election in a landslide receiving more than 50% of the vote in each polling station! Below are the percentage of votes he received in each polling station in comparison to Morris
President elect Kelly clearly has a mandate from the student body to serve them and lead the Board this coming year! The 'Driven' slate endorsed by the Pitt News and the Pittsburgh Standard swept the elections taking the first three spots!
The 'Proven' slate endorsed by the Pittsburgh Standard took the next two spots exactly in the way they were endorsed!
The 'Driven' and 'Proven' slates clearly have a majority on board to have any resolution passed and having their platform ideas implemented to serve the student body that have given them a clear mandate to serve them! The 'Results Matter' slate endorsed by the Pitt News took 6th and 7th place!
The 'Dedication' slate endorsed by the Pittsburgh Standard had one of its slate members take the final spot!
In all the Pitt News got all of its members that it endorsed make the board. The Pittsburgh Standard had all of its members it endorsed in the order it endorsed make it to board in that order except Bambling who was endorsed as the 6th ideal board member but placed 8th in the election. The only two that did not make board even though the Pittsburgh Standard endorsed them were Baron, and Carr. The endorsements can be seen below!!! Pittsburgh Standard proudly gives first endorsements to Zachary Ransom of DRIVEN
Ransom wants to be a team player on the board. He has the right vision
when he believes, "when choosing a candidate for student government
board it is important to know what the candidate stands for....and that
their ideas not only benefit you as an individual, but you as a group
and us as a University." That's what I call a team player! Pittsburgh Standard proudly gives first endorsements to Joe Pasqualichio of DRIVEN
Pasqualichio as an incumbent has driven his service to the student
body extra miles with the implementation of Pick-a-Prof and wants to
make Swapitt a reality for students to swap things online with each
other. I also love his desire to change the way basketball tickets are
sold to Pitt students in the future. Pittsburgh Standard proudly gives first endorsements to Elizabeth Blasi of DRIVEN Blasi
as an incumbent has been excellent as a voice for the concerns of
students when it comes to food services. She has taken the initiative to
establish a food service committee and meet with Sodexho management to
improve food service for you. She has a passion to fight for you. Pittsburgh Standard proudly gives secondary endorsements to Jennifer Anukem of PROVEN Anukem will be a fresh face to SGB and wants to help students know their rights regarding dealing with panhandlers and will make an excellent addition to the board to work in unity on issues that matter to you the student body. Pittsburgh Standard proudly gives secondary endorsements to Jarrod Baker of PROVEN Baker wants to bring back Midnight Madness and improve the way basketball tickets are sold such as having campouts to get tickets. This is the best and most community oriented way of bringing students together for the same cause. Pittsburgh Standard gives third endorsements to Rebekah Bambling of DEDICATION Pittsburgh Standard gives third endorsements to Kristina Baron of DEDICATION Pittsburgh Standard gives third endorsements to Ryan Carr of DEDICATION These servant 8 will make up the best SGB board to serve our student body!
