PART I:
On Sunday night of Nov 25th, when my COMPAQ LAPTOP with lots of information in it was stolen on campus, I was distraught. It was another added pain to what my family is going through regarding my dad’s condition. Now, I had to deal with this. I was so mad and angry with the world and did not want to have any contact with anyone.

My thought process wanted to ask the Lord Jesus to bring about curses in the life of the one who took my laptop until the pain is so unbearable that person would want to get rid of it and return it like in the days of the Ark of the Covenant. When the Ark of the Covenant was taken where it was not supposed to be taken, things did not go well for the whole town until the Ark of the Covenant was returned.

Yet, I knew the teachings of Jesus Christ forbid me to curse and hate whoever stole it.

“But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike.” (Matthew 5:44-45, NLT)

“But to you who are willing to listen, I say, love your enemies! Do good to those who hate you. Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you.” (Luke 6:27-28, NLT)

I definitely felt persecuted by whoever took it but I forced myself to pray to the Lord to bless whoever took it, to forgive whoever took it, and that Jesus Christ will become real in their lives so their own lives would be transformed by the power of the living Christ. I also prayed that they would be convicted in their heart of wrongdoing and return the laptop but even if they don’t, the religious biblical software in it would minister to them or whoever it is sold to. It is not something my flesh wanted to pray but I had to force myself to do it.

This did not take away the compounded pain of losing my laptop and the uncertainty of my dad’s condition as he has still been unresponsive and has dealt with infection at the hospital this week. Today. Nov 30, they are sending him to Allegheny General Hospital for X-Rays because they are worried about a fluid leaking from his GI tract. Please pray!

The only thing that was going through my mind, when my laptop was stolen one month before Christmas, is ’Why me Lord, why me?’ It is not like I was using my laptop for evil purposes but using it to herald the Christmas season with Christmas music playing, etc. It happened and the Lord allowed it and I need to accept it. As Job said, 'The Lord gives and the Lord takes away, blessed be the Name of the Lord!'

I was overwhelmed and depressed and became physically and emotionally sick. During that time I felt I was not functional to go to work but went to the hospital to see my dad in his unresponsive condition and came home to rest. I had no appetite to eat too. I did not want to interact with students nor employees at work on campus.

I who loved to reach out to students with the love of Christ and those who are troubled, cut myself off from them because I was wallowing in my own misery. My laptop was stolen on campus so ministering to anyone on campus was not there anymore.
