Who cares for the unborn child!

Pittsburgh Standard

A pregnant woman who is harmed and loses her child results in two victims. Victim one is the mother and victim two is the unborn baby. Tragically, two lives were lost when Laci Peterson was murdered even though she was pregnant. Her family not only lost a daughter but a grandson because the murderer did not value both lives.

There are those who believe that it is good enough just to charge the murderer with the murder of the woman but not the unborn child because the child was not out of the mother’s womb. This is tragic because two lives were lost but only the loss of one life is recognized by them.

It should not be that way. Whether the pregnant woman is Caucasian, African-American, Asian, or any other ethnicity, her unborn child could have come into existence if the child was not harmed. The harm to Laci Peterson resulted in the harm to her unborn child too.

What can be done to recognize that unborn children can be victims too in a crime?

Thanks be to God for the Laci Peterson Law also called the ‘Laci and Conner’s Law’.  This law would make it a separate crime to kill or harm an unborn child during an assault on the mother.

This law would let families know who have lost an unborn child that the child is valued and will be remembered as a victim of a crime for which the perpetrator will pay.

The President of the United States signed into law ‘Laci and Conner’s Law’ also referred to as the ‘Unborn Victims of Violence Act’ in remembrance of the unborn victim allowing prosecutors to charge anyone who kills a pregnant woman with two counts of murder.

This is the right law because it gives justice not only for the families who lost a pregnant daughter but also a child.

President George W. Bush recognizes the unborn have value too!

"As of today, the law of our nation will acknowledge the plain fact that crimes of violence against a pregnant woman often have two victims,” said Bush.

Bush also acknowledged, “the death of an innocent unborn child has too often been treated as a detail in one crime but not a crime in itself," in support of the law.

His opponent John Kerry voted against the Laci Peterson Law!

How can he do that but he did! By voting against the Laci Peterson Law, Kerry is indirectly telling the public that those who harm the unborn should not be charged with a crime because the child has not been born yet.

That is very tragic and he has to explain himself to families of pregnant woman who have been harmed and also lost their child. By voting against it, is like acknowledging that the woman is not pregnant when she is harmed.

That is John Kerry for you! He talks about lives being lost in Iraq and the president should be held accountable and yet he had no problem voting against a law that would charge murderers who take the life of the unborn in the process of assaulting a pregnant woman.

What if 1000 pregnant woman were murdered?

According to Kerry, only 1000 counts of murder should be recognized instead of 2000. That is John Kerry for you! He is for life but then he is not for life.

All pregnant women have President Bush and the members of Congress to thank who put this law through recognizing the unborn child has value too.

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” (Psalm 139:13-16, NIV)

President Bush seems to recognize the words of Psalm 139:13-16 about the unborn and their life value. Based on Kerry’s vote, I am saddened that he does not seem too!

You can directly thank Pres. Bush by voting him back into office and keeping Sen. Kerry from the White House. Pres. Bush gets my vote and I hope he gets yours too!
