Welcome to the Pittsburgh
Standard News Editor description. You have just entered the alternative
online paper to the Pitt News. Our mission is to write with hope, faith,
and love. “We write for you! You decide for us” is what we would like to
follow!
As a news editor, you will
be responsible for the following things:
·
Monitor campus, local, and world news to cover stories that
are pertinent to students, making sure no important news is missed.
·
Work with news writers to generate story
ideas.
·
Make sure at least one different student
organizations' story is
covered each week.
·
Work closely with publisher to make sure
most stories have pictures to go with them whenever possible.
·
Write a minimum of one story per week!
·
Allow publisher to make final edits to
stories for online publication.
·
Have stories turned in by deadlines set and
be willing to have stories added by publisher if necessary!
After
reading this if you are still interested in the News Editor position,
please let me know!
There is an incentive of $100.00 for the most stories written than anyone
else in a month for the paper. The other incentives are having your
picture published. You will become the News Editor after your first four
stories are printed.
When
people think of the News Editor of the Pittsburgh Standard, I want them to
get the news that their news editor is the best and gets things done. It
makes no sense to have a title but people don't see the accomplishments
behind the title!
Those of you who
wanted to be the News Editor will get the opportunity to win $100.00
depending on your writings that are published.
