On the night of Thurs, Sept 06, four Christian fellowships: Agape Christian Ministry (ACM), Ambassadors for Christ (AFC), Campus Crusade for Christ (CCC), and InterVarsity Christian Fellowship (IVCF) graced the floors of the William Pitt Union to worship the Lord and build community among the students who joined them.

AFC, a predominantly African-American fellowship wasted no time to proclaim their worship to the Lord as they began with ‘I Will Worship’ followed by ‘The Lord Thy God’ and ‘There Is None Like You’.

On the other side of the 5th floor, ACM and IVCF had their meetings adjacent to each other while CCC enjoyed the biggest room in Dining Room A.

IVCF had students from different ethnicities reminding me of their old vision statement that I used while on staff with IVCF few years ago. The vision statement had said, “The vision of IVCF-USA is to engage the campus in all its ethnic diversity with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

This certainly was true with this group of worshippers, few of them who were from different ethnic backgrounds reminding me of IVCFs’ ‘Ministering Across Cultures (MAC) training and Urbana Missions Convention. It also reminded me about the Bible talking about ‘all tribes and nations’ would come to worship the Lord together in Heaven one day.

The students at IVCF sang songs in English and were then taught a worship song in Spanish by their staff worker Susan Scudiere. Their fellowship gathering ended with Kara, a former staff worker giving a presentation of the Gospel so lives can be changed and transformed through the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

As AFC and IVCF continued to meet, ACM students also sang 'Blessed Be the Name of the Lord' and CCC students worshipped in the Dining Room A of the William Pitt Union.

Most of the groups were meeting simultaneously and hope to meet together soon for a joint Thursday worship and teaching gathering.
